OT Married Folk: do you and your spouse keep separate checking accounts?

I mean the one she knows about, not the $millions you (and everyone else) have stashed in offshore accounts.
My neighbor and his wife both retired recently, and they now keep separate accounts so “they can spend their money how they each want”

Never. We have nothing to hide from each other. Both of our paychecks get deposited into one account and we pay bills from it then have fun with it. I see what she spends and she sees what I spend.

Separate checking accounts leads to joint Facebook accounts.

Nope.
We have separate retirement accounts, but everything else is joint.

We did initially, but we eventually joined everything. Makes more sense for us anyway. Too much shuffling around money to pay for bills, distribute to retirement, etc. I basically manage everything anyway so made more sense to lump it into one pot.

Yes, but we also have a joint account that most of our money goes in to. The separate checking accounts are just stuff that we spend on shite that we individually like to do. For me, its mostly golf and our annual guys golfing trip. For her, it's mostly for her MUSES related shite like dues and other events they have throughout the year.
Been together almost 15 years and have never had an issue.

Yup
I paid all the bills, and she pissed her money away on nothing. She made more than me in 2018. I kicked her out in June. She’s hit me and my parents up for more than $5000 in loans since then.
This is a woman that describes herself as “low maintenance”.

Yes we have separate accounts. Been that way for 15 years. I'm good with money she isn't. She has a degree and good job so she can spend her money and I can spend mine..

I find most couples that do have something to hide.

We have 2 checking and multiple savings accounts. Only reason we have 2 checking accounts is because my divorce lawyer advised we keep her payroll direct deposits in a separate account.
We both have access to all accounts

No.
But I have zero problem with those that do, it's live and let live and do whatcha want.
I guess it's just my generation, I was born in the mid '60's and mom and pops and now me and my wife have never had a separate checking account.

Same account for us. Having separate accounts in a marriage is just weird. I know a few people that have it though. Most of them that do are Millennials, not really bashing the generation, just the facts of it.
Gen X people I know doing it are usually on marriage number 2.
I was talking to one woman at Halloween who wanted her husband to take her car, so he could make the payments from his account. My wife and I were just
There is no reason for separate accounts in a real marriage. With the exception being self-employment/taxes simplicity.
