$143,000 in 1991 numbers. No that’s not realistic. Any man who puts his foot down just has balls. Swans shitting all over my property and people dancing in it? Go frick yourselves. I’m not paying for anything until you’re 25. I’ll attend the wedding, but I’m not paying for shite until then because you’re 21 and dumb.

Depends. How many daughters are you talking about and how much do you make annually?

This subject is probably my biggest pet peeve. The ones where the couple have been living together really pull my chain. The last one I went to was a couple who had lived together 2 years. She was already pregnant but not showing. I estimate the rehearsal/wedding/reception was about a $30,000 affair. They only had about 100 guests all out of town so that bill for rooms and meals was about $400/couple for about another $20,000. Have your high priced wedding but leave me the hell out of it.

That’s part of the wedding and the most expensive part. Open bar, decent food, band and renting a nice place can easily lead to a wedding costing $40k. I am surprised it’s not more.

Just curious, how many daughters do you have and what are their ages? Any sons?

travel time, set up, playing music and packing up,

I mostly play weddings within 20 minute drive of me. Better than most work commutes.

I set up in a few minutes. It’s super simple: amp, PA, guitar, and chords. I just use the effects on the amp for reverb. I wheel everything in on a dolly.

And if a wedding is 25+ miles, I charge $50 up until 100 miles and then I add $100.

It’s an incredibly simple gig that’s worth no where near the $350. But people pay it so that a girl can be happy (but probably stressed) one day of her life.

They pay you $350 as insurance that you’ll show up and do a good job. And for your years of experience/training

What I did 10 years ago. She even had a 12 piece band (Bits and Pieces) which SIL's family paid for and over 300 people, open bar.

I meant realistic regarding the process; i.e.; bride & mother of the bride working hard to get the dream wedding; and dad pretty much clueless.

Our in November will end up costing around $20k and it seems like we're having a pretty "average" wedding. $40k seems a little high to me as an average.

Is it really still the daughters’ family’s responsibility? In this day and age I think most people share, or at least they should.

I had to ask my parents to help us out as my fiance’s Dad is a piece of shite and has refused to help out for anything. Didn’t even offer to pay for her dress which was under $1K.

I told her that that means her parents can’t say shite about the wedding then. They get 0 input and if we want to have strippers cartwheeling butt naked down the aisle, they can’t say a fricking thing about it.

Granddaughter’s wedding is in the fall, probably close to $15,000. And she is getting the most bang for the buck. Anyone planning a wedding needs to do the homework and ask all the right questions. It’s the nit picky add-ons that run the bill up.

Mine is going to be around that range too. My only thing is I wish we could’ve gotten a band. But it was either a band or open bar. Think we chose wisely.

Unless you are very wealthy and just want to be generous....it's pretty much understood that travel costs(including lodging) is paid by the guest.
