The NOPD has it's hands tied behind their back. Those poor cops can't do their job with Mitch and his inviting the Feds down for the decree.

About 5k from me. We had planned to visit this summer but cancelled after the monuments thing.
Would love to visit, but won't support N.O. in the current political climate.
Not to mention valuing my life.

No, I just makes you full of shite. Every time a thread like this comes up, you're in here doing your thing. Then in the next thread you say "I don't always do this." You do. It's OK, you're not the only one. I'm sure Abitafan will be here soon.

I love New Orleans. Always have. While I agree that people overreact to these types of things, it is not something to be ignored. There is no way to know the affect on tourism. If it increased, perhaps it would've increased more without these problems. If it was stable, perhaps it would have grown.
It's also silly to look at raw population numbers without context. Where was the growth?
If it was future welfare recipients and criminals, then that's not good. If it is professionals, then that's good.
I don't know the answer to that.

Whoa there. One of these things is not like the others pal.
Show me where St. Tammany has "shitty" schools please. Oh, that's right, some of the highest ranked schools in the state are there along with some of the highest per capita income and lowest crime rate in the entire state. Don't try to make your argument with false facts.
I downvoted you in retaliation for downvoting me when I simply pointed out facts. You are really invested in this thread's argument for some reason.
ETA: Replied to myself on accident but was referring to NIH. I am NOT arguing with myself here.

Hey, it could be worse. California is making New Orleans look well managed.

We must have a skinny jean guy in this thread.

That's the net loss. Does it not concern you that during a time when many urban centers are gaining drastic amounts of people NOLA had a net loss?
things are fine for now.
the future is where the potential concern might be

Some of that net loss is because of a shift in household types. In the gentrifying areas, there are poor families being replaced by singles and or childless couples. The result is a net loss in population, but a demographic/economic improvement. The poor families are moving to the lower cost rentals in the suburbs (westbank, EJ and NOLA-East).
I can't explain the uptick in violence, but I know Mitch isn't helping and the DA is mainly grandstanding.

Honestly, Cannizzaro is probably the most corrupt immoral pieces of shite in NOLA government.
Seriously, frick that guy.

In the current state of NOPD what's their incentive?

Cannizaro has no high horse to judge anyone, least Mitch. In a sense they're polar opposites living in their own dream world.
On the one hand there's Landrieu who believes that tearing down statues will "heal the city".
On the other is Cannizaro who will stop at nothing (including issuing fake subpeonas) to put everyone in prison.
Both are after their own agenda, Landrieu for higher office and Cannizaro for more convictions. I am not sure one is better than the other.
