They use the term "cast members". Doesn't that mean these folks are playing a part rather than playing themselves?

Is Cinderella going to suddenly have purple hair? I don't get changing the characters to be the actors.

Actually a very good point, Gris.

Many posters saying this doesn't impact the "experience" do so under the premise it's a park with rides and not the fantasy land it was intended to be.

So Cinderella will now have tattoo sleeves and blue Lesbian hair?

That's the sad/pathetic part about the outrage. The people that will be allowed the "freedoms to express themselves" will be the non-character Disney employees. The people taking your pictures, security, custodians, food workers... At least for the time being, the characters will still need to look the part.

I don't think this means the people actually playing the part of characters (not yet at least, check back in 10 years). Even the people working the rides and food stands are called cast members. I think this policy is referring to those workers. That being said, I get your point about even those workers are playing a role, hence the long-time grooming policies.

Pretty sure they call all their public facing employees cast members, but I could be wrong.

If I went to Disney world and got questions from my kids about weird haircuts and uniforms on some woke members of the cast, or if a cast member ruined my experience by using a cell phone in front of me, I’d never go back

As it is, their mask police cast members are horrible. Some cast members are there to ruin your experience by treating you like a child and chastising you for not using a mask the second you take food or drink out of your mouth, even if you are distanced far more than 6 ft from anyone else

Can't wait for my daughter to take a picture with a transgender Cinderella sporting neck tattoos and pink hair.

Absolutely. They are considered to be actors and can be regulated as such. This allows Disney to hold them to much stricter standards of uniform and appearance. It appears Disney is relaxing those standards, which will just start the inevitable decline as the cast members and woke bystanders push for more and more

Maybe. It was more an opportunity to express a general view than to solely focus on the comment about Spleen.

Disney culture's rise over the last several years is bizarre

Maybe the popularity of Disney says more about the rest of America than Disney itself?

I'm certainly not a "Disney person" but I can absolutely appreciate their business model. They pretty much do everything right. CFA level customer service, impeccably kept grounds, and everything is CLEAN. The bathrooms in the Magic Kingdom rival Buccees. How they can keep the parks spotless with that many people going through is nothing short of amazing.

All of this is happening while the rest of America is turning into a dirty, crime-ridden, and rude dump. I think the general degradation of our society is why people flock to this place.

The next time I ride Jungle Cruise I will not be thinking about the gloriously entertaining puns of the skippers, I will be thinking about Disney’s political agenda. That’s a mood killer.

If this is really true, then it sounds like that person is really the problem here.

If they remove Jack Sparrow from the Pirates ride or the Mad Hatter from the AIW ride, I wouldn’t give two fricks.

If you’re so upset at a company for trying to save its arse from being cancelled by the idiotic woke trend in this country, then you shouldn’t be attending either.

Just go, enjoy the time off with your family and go home. It’s really not that big of a deal.
