Are we just blaming everything on wokeness now? What the hell do tattoos have to do with being woke?

Allowing tattoos to be shown by workers at Disney parks so that “workers can express themselves” is definitely a more progressive belief

I'm not a Disney guy, but they have the best immersion for a theme park. Everyone normal is sick of the woke corporate shite

Meh. Seems like more of the author just looking for something to complain about, which this board is always down for.

I’m not one of those “Disney people”, but i know some people who are. Wokeness will definitely turn them off. Maybe it will bring the price down and i’ll finally go.

Adding Disney to the woke companies and brands that I choose to no longer purchase.

The knee-jerk is to assume Disney caved to woke culture, but it's possible this was a business decision aimed at better employee recruitment and retention.

Correct, they let go a ton of people. Many who bounced from Orlando as a result. Universal generally treats their employees better and are building another park. Disney has to compete, and the reality is, the LGBTQ+ crowd “has to express themselves. The example they provided was male working Haunted Mansion with black fingernails, earrings etc.

I do think part of what set Disney apart gets lost when they make drastic changes like this. Tattoos are trashy, and we should all people to reasonable grooming standards, IMO.

I hate Disney

But part of the entire reason people like it is the uniformity of the workers etc

So yeh, it kinda is a big deal to change that.

They use the term "cast members". Doesn't that mean these folks are playing a part rather than playing themselves?

Is Cinderella going to suddenly have purple hair? I don't get changing the characters to be the actors.

Disney calls anyone who works for them in the parks "cast members". So, the woman playing Cinderella is a cast member, but so is the guy working in the gift shop on Main St. USA.

I suspect they're not talking about letting the woman playing Cinderella sport a green mohawk and face tattoos, but the guy serving you lunch might.

The people who i know who go there a lot go for the specific purpose of temporarily living in a fantasy world, where the problems of day-to-day life don’t exist. They pay top dollar for that experience. They aren’t “fragile” for not wanting to see tattoos and political messages. They have every right to choose to spend their money elsewhere.

What do these staff members look like and how many are there? Not judging, but curious...

Part of the fun in Disney is bringing kids that think the characters in the park are real. Would be tough to explain a black Gaston or Cinderella with sleeve tattoos. It brings the cartoons to life and changing that would definitely ruin the experience in my opinion.

So are the people that complain about muh self expression to the extent that it caused a major corporation to change their policies. They're fragile too.
