Opinions requested, What to do when your 70 y/o parents rescue a bad shih zu dog?

A few years ago my folks adopted this dog when he was about 5 y/o. They already had a girl shih zu a couple years older and her mate died so they wanted another boy.

Fast Forward, this rescue has been nothing but trouble. Allegedly he was abused in the past, so maybe that contributes or maybe he was born mentally ill and that's why he was abused. Anyway, when anyone comes over he barks non-stop. I usually spend the night and if I wake up to piss he'll start barking. He's bit me, my sister, and his groomers multiple times. Groomers in the area don't even wanna groom him according to mom. He's NOT an attack dog and myself and my sis can stay away from him but we can not get up and walk around the living room or go to the kitchen when visiting our folks without him barking non stop and following us.

Recently I recommended they kill the dog and just buy one. They've got the money but I guess they are too good hearted but they aren't liberals. It's got me and my sis not wanting to go over to visit and definetly altered how often we go, and it's not b/c our parents don't wanna see us they keep this dog.

Whats OT opinion here? TiA

ETA I live about an hour away and my sister is 5 hours away. My sister doesn't want to go over there at all. And I used to go about once per month , leave Friday come home Sunday but that's dwindled to about once every 3 months.

You don't have a dog in this hunt, baw. Not your dog, not your problem.

Just go shoot it or feed it antifreeze.

The dog needs to be broken. Whoever it sees as the pack leader needs to pin it down and bite its neck until it falls in line

Can’t the dog be crated or put in the basement while you’re visiting? How about offering to board the dog?

How about you just let your old arse parents die happy with that little bastard dog.

So what?

It is their happiness, not yours.

You are also staying at their house and complaining.

Pffft.

A man went to a zoo. There was only one animal there. It was a Shih-Zu (shite Zoo),

Great Question. My mom usually stays in the living room and sleeps in a recliner and has the dog with her which is in the middle of the house. She doesn't want to let go of the dog long but lets him jump off the chair and bark and follow us.

I guess another answer to that is, she will board him, but not the older dog. I think they did that and went on a short trip a couple times. That older girl is cool as hell but she's in elderly bad shape. It hasn't came to the point of us asking her to board him yet before we come over. But I did tell her I wouldn't keep a dog groomers didn't wanna groom

Who can't handle a little dog?
Geez.
Try to be friendly with the dog instead of antagonizing it.

WTF? They are small dogs right? Pick him up when you go to the kitchen or do something that will let him see you getting up and going to the kitchen as a positive and not a threat or something.

And when you hold dogs like that, you are in a sense of control. If a shite zu is keeping you away from your parents then you might be the problem bruh.
