One reason why I am against the wage increase to $15/hour

This is advocated mainly by older adults. Most of whom have families to support, and have underachieved in life.
"I gotta feed my family". Um, these jobs weren't exactly created for a 38 year-old male with 4 kids.
These "start-up" jobs were designed for late teens and young adults. Learning the value of hard work and responsibility at a young age, which leads to career progression.
Why should companies be forced to compensate just because you decided not make any progress with your life?
If you're making milkshakes and approaching 40, that's on you.

What if that adult is mentally challenged and the best they can do job wise is one of these jobs?
My sister has worked for Walmart for 10 years now. She loves working there and with her mental capacity....minimum wage type jobs is all she could ever do.
Minimum wage is $11/hr here and for people like my siblings....I’m happy for them.

The issue is wages didn't rise with inflation. Most older people lived in a world where you could pay rent, bills and a car note on a starting job.
$3 an hour in the 70s went far. $5 in the early 90s wasn't horrible.
You can't do nothing with $8 in almost 2020.
We don't have the machinists or factory jobs anymore. So many undereducated are stuck with minimum wage.
In the 90s I knew a family who put their daughter through private school and had a house and two car notes and both worked at Walmart.
You can't do that now.
Yes it would be great if everyone had skills and better jobs.
Yet that just isn't reality.

Perhaps he should look at the upside. Now, with where this is headed, his four kids could possibly choose to bypass college and do just fine. Boom. He saved a ton.
Seriously, BoA's minimum wage is going to $17.00 an hour on May 1st. Then to $20.00 an hour in the next two years. Tell his kids to go be bank tellers and move their way up internally.

The reason you should oppose a flat $15 per hour minimum wage across the board is because of economics. $15 per hour in San Francisco is infinitely different than $15 per hour in Bumfrick, Kansas. That wage increase would put a lot of small businesses in rural areas out of business. If we're going to increase the minimum wage it should be tied to the Cost Of Living in each area.

The armed forces do not take anyone who has an IQ of 83 or less. After many studies, they found that if you had an IQ of 83 or less, there was nothing in the military you could do which wasn't counterproductive. 10% of the population has an IQ of 83 or less (32.7 million people).
This basically means that there is nothing for 10% of the population to do.
I would guess many of the 40 year old adults you see working at fast food restaurants fall within this category. So its not always that adults are working fast food because they are lazy. Some do not have the cognitive ability to have "career progression".
