I think the federal minimum wage should be zero. It's a voluntary exchange. If some 16 year old is willing to work for $3 an hour why should the federal government get involved? States can do what they want

Alright then, let's say we try to follow this plan to the letter.
1) I've seen no attempt by the current GOP to do anything to decrease welfare. I really think Trump himself may not be able to touch the topic. The lobbyists angle is correct. Too many politicians are profiting off the welfare system. Certain places uses it as a release valve for otherwise very detrimental parts of the country.
2) we build Trumps Wall and end border crossings for good. Are we going to pass a law punishing companies who hire illegals? because the wall is just a first stage solution. It has to backed up by legislation, otherwise companies will continue to find a way to hire illegals over Americans.

Not likeing that train of thought doesnt change the fact that it is reality.
Raise minimum wage...prices go up and/or jobs decrease...net loss for lower class
Add in the the squeeze on middle class as cost of living rises plus added work to makeup for loss of some lower level jobs.
You want nice things and luxuries....apply yourself, dont have kids until you can afford them, learn how to budget your money, make a long term plan, and take responsibility for your place in the world.

The irony is that those countries have things we lack. Like universal healthcare systems. And some have ironically stronger welfare systems.
Then there's the conservative defense that the cultures are homogeneous compared to the US.
