It didn't help your intelligence or attitude, so I'd say you got a shitty perspective.

Damn this sucks. He was always pumping up his dad’s restaurant on Food & Drink board. They were obviously very close. His dad must be devastated.

Even in death his life is a lesson to those fighting addiction. The success stories help those entering sobriety and the failures remind folks with years of sobriety that they need to keep working hard on the straight and narrow path. RIP.

Sad. Unfortunately, I've got a daughter that's lost in her addiction and I too am just waiting for the day I get the call.....

I wasn't super close to Matt but we had a similar circle of friends as we both grew up in Lafayette and went to LSU during the same time period. I always thought he was nice but seemed kind of distant.

I have to disagree. Beer and tobacco is good in moderation. Huge difference in having a 6 pack on a Friday night after a long work week than injecting illegal drugs into your body.

Dude is my age. Such a sad ordeal...T's and P's to the family.

I think the saddest part of investigating some of these overdose heroin/fentanyl deaths besides the young children that are left behind is knowing that so many of them die alone. Strung out in some cheap hotel, shady gas station bathroom, or a dirty running car.

I am not afraid of death, but I hope when my times comes to be called home I get to go similar to the way my father did. Warm and surrounded by the ones that loved me the most in my own bed.

I can’t thank my Dad enough for the example he set in how he lived and the lessons he taught me about avoiding drugs. Life is rough and some don’t learn how to cope without them.

frick China and their Fentanyl. Opioid addition is its own beast but the fact that another country is pumping fentanyl into the US in a subversive way to destroy us is damn near a call to war.

RIP

All the BS wars this country has been in since WWII you would think cartels and producers of raw drugs would be number one on the list.

RIP Matt.

This is really sad man. I made a thread on here about going to rehab last year and me and him exchanged emails and talked for a little bit. I'm a little over a year sober. Rest in peace Matt and thanks for being kind one evening to a stranger on a message board. It meant a great deal.

Amen, struck close to me a few times. Lost one of my best friends in particular who always tried to 'save others" while not being strong enough to save herself...I chided her many times about the company she kept and the wolves finally pulled her down in 2011. Heroin OD! Miss her often!

Then explain all the people I’ve met and currently know that don’t touch either a cigarette or alcohol during the week and only have a couple of cigarettes/cigars on the weekend with an occasional beer or cocktail.

I think God kept me alive to do these sports articles on athletes. That’s the only way I can explain it

I don't understand addiction so I can't really comment on it like I can say depression but seeing that pic of him as a baby with his dad holding him got to me.
