I think climbers like this become a different species. It’s the only (good) thing that is incomprehensible to me.

You're late. Some of us watched it live.

Dude has mountain goat somewhere in his family tree.

That was a walk in the park for him compared to El Cap. I'd imagine it was incredibly boring for him
Nothing will ever top that. Never ever

His free solo of El Cap was one of the greatest athletic achievements in human history
This was probably a walk in the park but it still stressed me the frick out

Difficult question:
Would you rather Free Solo nude or see Hope Solo nude?

It's fun to listen to Honnold talk about risk.

I’m sure he thought it was absurd and hated every second of it. He said they offered him “an embarrassing amount of money” to do it.
ETA it sounds like he was paid roughly $500,000

He said it was a lifelong dream of his. He and I dream about entirely different things.

Still can't get over:
a) the part where he was on the ledge doing the interview and just casually tripped/awkwardly moved around that little post thing sticking up out of the concrete and it didn't even register with him.
b) him just taking selfies standing up on the top FOREVER with nothing further to gain

That's a guy that's gonna die doing what he loves.

Seems like his nuts would get in the way of climbing!

Except that's not the biological definition of "fitness"....
quote:
Fitness is an organism's ability to survive, reproduce, and pass its genes to the next generation in a specific environment, measured by the relative success of leaving offspring compared to others.

quote:You didn't see the spire had a ladder running up its side?
To get down from the top of the spire, to take the elevator back down to ground level. This was a climb, not a climb-and-descent.
As it's the only part that's routinely ascended and descended by maintenance.
But at least you were not alone... there were 11 more downvoting ....who were just as blind as you..
