I spoke to Moreno at length not long ago.
I was very concerned over just how progressive she comes across going into the convo, but came out feeling a bit reassured. She did give some practical answers and understand crime is the #1 concern and the need for practical policing, increasing the police force drastically etc
I didn't love her answer on the consent decree (essentially there is nothing we can do but get in compliance and it will eventually end) but otherwise I felt pretty good.
She will at least work hard even though I disagree with her on a host of social issues

Moreno if nothing else brings a level of respect to the mayors office that doesn’t exist currently.
I’m not a fan of her progressiveness, but she at least has the potential to attract business and isn’t near as divisive as Latoya.

The people who I know have talked to her said versions of the same thing. It appears that she knows to take on any social issues she has to take on the basic issued of the city first. She genuinely wants to the city to be successful and help people. I just wish she Giarusso would be able to stay on the council to help her and hopefully someone with a brain replaces her.

She stressed pretty hard what a rudderless ship that NOLA is and that we basically have to start again at point A rebuilding a basic, functioning executive office and city. And then point B and point C before getting to minutae.
She was pretty frank about it.

At this point it is a requirement to run

I'm sure voting for people like this will never be seen as a reason for problems with that City.

I hope you’re better at horse racing handicaps than you are at political races.
Moreno is a heavy heavy favorite.

Moreno is the favorite as of now.
But don't for a second think that black men will support a black woman, and if you take the view she is mixed race, black women might not support her either.
Thomas is popular, he has a bully pulpit of a radio station, and has a reputation for "keeping it real". That matters to a LOT of voters in NOLA.

Helena Moreno was born in Mexico & lived there when she was young before her family moved to the U.S. She is not Black or even half Black.

She does(or used to) enjoy munching on carpet from time to time is something I’ve heard about her. That makes me like her even more.

Are you referring to the Rita LeBlanc & her rumors? I have heard the same thing. I’m sure Oliver’s handlers are on it as we speak.

He better not push too hard on that issue. The white liberals may turn on him.

Thomas plead guilty. He admitted it
Big difference from what you are insinuating
