However, fast forward about 50 to 60 years and kids in the future will consider names like Kaylee, Breighlynn, and McKayla as grandma names. We as a society have royally fricked oursleves. Grandma Caitlyn just doesn't work.

if the names are that common, they won't seem out of place in 50 years

people complain about weird shite

Something celebrity based that won’t age well.

I’m thinking along the lines of Danica.

True, but by then folks will be giving their kids old people names. The circle will complete itself.

My niece got mad at me for "being mean" to one of her friends.

Niece and husband were expecting their second child. There was a thread on Facebook discussing names for the incoming heathen.

One stupid girl suggested a few names. Among them were 'Xander' and 'Denzel' (kid is lily white).

I replied Xander was great, but they were naming a male child. Not a unicorn. I told her Denzel was a possibility, but only if DaQuan was taken.

Turns out the stupid girl had named one of her kids Xander. The unicorn comment hurt her feelings. Niece told me to quit being mean.

I moreso wonder what will the nursing homes look like in 50 years when almost all the patients have tattoos all over their bodies.

It's become ridiculous. Quit trying to come up with some unique name or spelling nobody else has and give your kid a classic name that they won't be embarrassed about in 20 years.

Recent names I’ve seen on Facebook birth announcements

Boys:
Ryker Tiberius
Aksel

Girl:
Khaleesi

White people need to get their shite together.

Although, anecdotally I’ve also noticed a trend in older names making a comeback too. I’ve also seen

Lillian
Eloise
Evalyn

Seems like the pendulum might be swinging to both extremes (and away from the Emily, Rachel, Jennifer, Elizabeth)

Talk about your names that aged badly in the past year.

“Mommy, why is my name Adolph?”

How do you know that Agnes, Edna, Gladys etc weren’t the Braxtyn’s of yesteryear?

That's a reasonable question. Some nations have actually addressed this: countries with more homogeneous demographics can have books and lists of legitimate names. I think, they have rotation patterns for sets of names over the generations. If you're wondering whether a prospective name has any tradition behind it, you can look it up and check it.

I like the Romans and the Samurai ideas about names. You start off with names your family provided by default (place of birth, order of birth among siblings, recycle a family name), but you grow your name around your own accomplishments. That said, they all knew better than to name their kids Braxtyn.

That is a very old Celtic name from the old French Cateline.

It's honestly amazing how stupid most of the OT is. It's not surprising that so many baws name their kids Braxtynn.
