Joseph C. Canizaro is chairman of First Bank and Trust's holding company, First Trust Corporation.
Canizaro is the founder, President and CEO of Columbus Properties, LP, a commercial real estate development company that has acquired, developed and/or managed office buildings, mixed-use projects, and land and residential projects throughout the southeastern and southwestern United States. In the New Orleans area, the company developed highly visible projects such as Canal Place, the First Bank and Trust Tower and Texaco Center (now Regions Bank building).
In 1991, Canizaro purchased First Bank and Trust and subsequently formed First Trust Corporation, parent of First Bank and Trust. He also founded Corporate Capital, LLC, a venture capital company that invests in traditional American businesses such as Innovus, Inc. (CDS), an operator of more than 32,000 U.S. ATM locations and Cooperative Retirement Systems of America, a developer and manager of more than 200 continuing-care retirement communities nationwide.
Raised in Biloxi, Mississippi until moving to New Orleans in 1964, Canizaro is a trustee and former chairman of the Urban Land Institute and has served on the Advisory Committee on Real Estate Development of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In addition, he was a member of the Business Council of New Orleans and the Tulane University President’s Council and was founder and co-chairman of the Committee for a Better New Orleans.
Canizaro also founded the New Orleans chapter of Legatus, an international organization of practicing Catholic CEOs. Additionally, he served the archbishop of New Orleans as a member of the Archdiocese Finance Council. Most recently, Notre Dame Seminary bestowed to him an Honorary Doctorate for his faith-filled and genuine conviction for following the Gospel instruction to go and teach all nations.

Trump will be in Old Metairie this afternoon
Not surprising, i used to see David Vitter at the CC’s coffee there.. guess he was getting caffeinated up before going to see that madam on Canal Blvd and getting all diapered up and spanked.
Also I’m pretty sure Scalise lives in the area, and lots others of that ilk.. hope Trump’s motorcade gets stopped at the Metairie Rd railway tracks!

What does Joe Cannizaro do to own a 20000sf house?
Also owned the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL.

i thought Old Jeff was supposed to be a decent area too, guess it’s got a ways to go.
Old Jeff has some really cool areas. This is just one pocket between Jeff Hwy and Earheart that is a total dump. It’s right by the Leman playground gym.

Ah, i knew his name sounded familiar.. we had season tix for them the one year they were in town. Was really an exciting team for the first half of the season, it was completely foreign as a Saints fan then to have an actual winning team.. Then in true NOLA fashion, they completely fell apart down the stretch.
Marcus Dupree was a great back though, and i remember sitting in the Dome for one game behind Dave Wilson and Hokie Gaian.

Sorry you can't afford to live in Old Metairie.
I'd look in Old Westwego.
Perhaps Old Avondale.

He does. I see him at the kids school functions and sometimes at the coffee shop and I'm always still impressed with the security detail and black suburbans he has.

Is this one bigger than the one the Guidry guy built nearby? I remember the fiasco that was caused when the parish denied his request to cut down a tree that would block a crane or something from doing some of the work.
Somehow the tree got cut down one night or something goofy like that and he claimed he had nothing to do with it.

Northline used to be an attractive street, but now it's overrun by monstrosity vanity projects from trash that stumbled into money like the Guidrys, etc. At least canizzaro's isn't an eye sore. the rest belong in south florida.

It's still an attractive street, but some of them are awful, especially the two modern houses right by the country club.
