[img]One man was killed and two more people were injured in an overnight shooting in Old Jefferson, authorities said Tuesday morning (May 14). The shooting was reported at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of Clermont Street in Jefferson (map), according to a statement from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.[/img]

Three people were shot inside an apartment there, JPSO said. They were all taken to a hospital for treatment, where a man, 62, later died.

Another man, 57, and a 55-year-old woman remained in the hospital as of 5 a.m., JPSO said. Their vitals were stable, authorities said, but they did not release any details about the severity of their injuries.

Two men, who declined to be named, said that deceased man had spent Monday painting the exterior of their duplex. They were surprised and saddened by the violence, which they said was rare on their quiet stretch of Clermont Street.

Three police cruisers remained outside the residence Tuesday morning as investigators took photos of the residence and canvassed the scene. Broken crime tape billowed in the wind at the end of the street, another sight that the two neighbors said was foreign and worrisome. Its all so Metry!
