Raccoons are tough to kill. Even with a bat to the head it takes several shots.

Well it’s definitely dead, just some more roadkill.

Absolutely zero reason for any sort of disciplinary action much less a press conference and news story

You ever used those glue traps? The mice get stuck on them really good.. And they can't move their legs at all. You don't want to just throw it away with them still alive so when I had to use them in the shop in the back of my house I would just put them in a plastic bag and wind it up pretty good then slam it on the table.

One time i had one get out of the trap and got away.. but I am pretty sure it was the one I found dead the next morning.

Anyway, its kind of sick, but I used to like winding up the bag and slamming it on the table.. Most of the time it just took one time.

You're fricking weird.

I just threw them out in the woods.

The raccoon should have had the opportunity to appeal it's death sentence to the Supreme Court. If it lost the appeal then it should have been given the gas. The chamber, not the pedal.

Coons and possums kick around a while even if you shoot them square in the head. I’d rather the cop run over it than blast it in the middle of a neighborhood too. +1 for the cop

There is a humane way to do this. It was a .22 to the brain.

I am pretty sure you are one of the few to actually watch video or read the article. 100% agree you don’t wait for a possibly rabid raccoon to get away and in a small neighborhood he did not want to shoot it for concern if he missed or ricochet or whatever.

Next time he can just watch it from the safety of his car while it gets away or acts someone.

Yeah, all the more reason to not spread fake news about it.

Doubtful af this falls within the states guidelines for lawfully euthanizing an animal.

I’d like to understand what they would have done.

Throw a trash can over it and then run a hose from an exhaust pipe to it?

How did they think animal control would kill it? Sing it to death with lullabies?

Dude in high school buried a cat up to it's neck and ran over it with a lawn mower. I was a little shocked at first, but after all it was just a cat.

I've heard this myth for years. No way in hell I'll ever believe that someone was able to bury a cat with just it's head above the ground and pack it tight enough to hold a cat long enough to start a lawn mower. No fricking way. That's a bullshite, wanna-be cool story.

Like cow tipping. None of you stupid frickers have ever done that either. If someone says they have, they're lying.

That's one of those weird arse urban legends that persists through the years, I guess by dads or older brothers passing the story on as their own. Pretty sure every middle school or high school boy in a America had a friend of a friend who mowed over the cat.

I am in awe that this requires a press conference from the chief of police.

I am also amazed that there had to be, not only, a review of policy, but also, a change of policy.

Then, the make it even better, the department sought out an outside agency to seek wether or not criminal charges should occur.

And officers legit wonder why people think police agencies are such BS jokes sometimes?

I heard of someone from my school doing the same thing 30 years ago. I hope it was just a story because that is sickening

Anyone that's every tried to bathe a cat knows that burying a cat with it's head up is impossible. No freaking way in hell. Unless the cat had no arms or legs.
