He thinks that's beefy - you never even uttered the mere word "sonic".

Didnt bring up about the auto and boat since that wasnt dealing with what the issue was about.

And you were incorrect about tax being charged where the transaction takes place, but who cares

Brister has to have her damn children's museum.

Ever since JBE rightfully pulled that funding she's been on the warpath. And I dont even like JBE, but with new Orleans building a new 40 million dollar childrens museum why does st tammany need one?

Conservatives hate taxes, but when forced we prefer sales tax over property or income tax

Congrats on calling out and bitching at the manager when nothing was wrong. Did you film it, too?

Some areas of St Tammany are designated as economic growth areas and have 10.5% taxes. Pat brister and company passed the tax increase without a vote so I'd bet most wouldnt even know.

I don't know anything about St Tammany politics, but can they do this? Add a tax without a vote?

The St. Tammany council was able to do this by creating "Economic Development Districts" that did not contain any voters. They were able to vote on it without much public input. Unanimous approval by all current council members.

that pissed a ton of people off and also became a big reason why they were unable to get taxes renewed for the courthouse and the jail last fall and again a couple of weeks ago.

one of the councilmen came out after it failed and had the balls to say that perhaps they'll find a way to raise the money through property taxes. frick these people.

I was wrong apparently RTG's warehouse has the highest tax rate in the state.

Actually Lake Providence is sitting at 12% (5/5/2).

But yeah, St Tammany is nuts with taxes.

Don't let this latest stunt by Dove Forest go unnoticed.

Interestingly, after several folks were told by our Councilman and the Parish that no one knew what the water and sewer were being extended for...a new subdivision called Dove Park Estates, LLC is planned. They are requesting predominantly A-3 designation for 54+ acres (might be twice that much, actually). The full rezoning package hasn't been released as of last week...something about new Parish software being installed....
There is also a project for resufacing Dove Park Road to extend from the Trace to Hwy 59. So, they will resurface the road in front of this project prior to allowing a multitude of truck traffic to access the land while they clear and grub it, then construct 100's of homes. Make sense to you? Personally, I wonder about who is making these sorts of decisions....

I about walked out of a car dealership in Florida when their "system" had BR proper sales tax at 9.5% and not 9% and wouldn't budge even when I showed them the Parish Finance Office webpage.

Took me another 3 months to get the 0.5% overpayment back.

I could explain this one to you, but you don't really deserve it.

The "geniuses" at the Lafourche Parish school board tried to add another cent this year "for teacher pay." Luckily, it failed by just 19 votes. Taxes range from 9.95 in Thibodaux to 10.4 in the south Lafourche area.

There was also talk of a council vote right before the election to raise it another .3 cents on a garbage tax that was authorized for a full cent but only collecting .7 cents right now.

But in other news, school board got it's 80 million dollar bond on the same election approved. Some of which could be used in " improving lands for building sites, playgrounds and athletic fields."

Lot's of teachers are butt hurt on losing the pay increase and some may even lose their jobs, but this was the wrong tax at the wrong time economically in the area. I could have supported a smaller tax that would have maintained the satuts quo, but not to have a salary war with other parishes.

Don't get me started on region's retail hub of Terrebonne (LOL) at 10.7%.
