I am changing oil at twice the recommended intervals because no way 10k intervals are sufficient.
I started doing 5k changes again on my 2012 Camry as it is getting older, but was doing 10k changes for the longest time without issue.

This isn’t because of turbos it’s because of engine debris left during the machining process.
The problem is why aren't they cleaning after machining?

I’m not sure what the issue was but at the end of the day it’s an imperfect world run by imperfect people. I’m sure they will be in the future. This is costing them a mint.

no thanks, both of my V8 powered Toyotas are doing great and if either ever gets replaced it will ONLY be with another V8 powered Toyota

It’s Not, it’s a design flaw that they’re covering up. Toyota engineering has been #1 for years and this fiasco has tarnished their standing.

A naturally aspirated V8 will always be more reliable than a turbo charged V6. The quicker that Lee Zeldin can end the goverment emissions laws and let Ford, GM, Dodge, and even Toyota resume making V8's the quicker the auto industry can start healing.
Really need to get rid of the cylinder de activation shite too. The GM 5.3 V8 is a decent engine now but before 07,08 when they started the de activation shite it was bullet proof. Nowadays they have some lifter issues.
You can have it removed but it costs $$$

Toyota has always had issues, they did a better job of covering them up in the 1990's - 2000's.

recalling...unlike Ford with their known cam phaser issues for years costing owners thousands...
So Toyota didn't deny frame rust issues with the Tacoma for years? Didn't deny upper rod bearing failures in the 3.0 V6 for years? They even denied warranty claims on some little sports coupe if it was driven over 85 MPH and the engine caught fire...
Some of you are absolutely clueless.

That’s what they’re claiming but it seems likely they didn’t pair the turbos to engines that were designed to run reliably with them.
Something to do with the shape of the engine block.

Worst part of the 3.0 is it won’t pull a greasy string out a cats arse and gets 15mpg doing it.

5.7 V-8 Bro check-in.
165,000 miles and going strong. Was considering getting a new truck, but just replaced all four tires. I'm now pot committed for another 50k miles minimum.

The GOP congress needs to get rid of the Obama-era mileage regs that drove car manufacturers towards smaller engines with turbos and engine stops at idle. Those are killers of at least turbos and starter motors.
This too.
Me too. Same engine, closing in on 170k. 2007 Tundra

My 2006 Tundra has 156,000 miles and is still going strong—no need for a new one.
2UZ Master Race checking in. 226K on my 2006 Tundra and it runs like new. Not a single squeak or rattle in the whole truck.

And they'll get fixed, and still bring in more at trade in time over the ford, dodge, and chevy. So congrats, I guess.

Have a 2011 that has that deactivation bullshite. I got a chip that keeps in V8 at all times. 145K and no issues.

Is it?? GM's 6.2 are blowing up left and right. The company put a stop sell on them.
If you were one of the lucky ones that own one, unless it blows up they won't replace it.
My '22 Tundra, which had never given the 1st hint of trouble, got a brand new engine at 55k miles.
Ford transmissions are complete shite. You get 100k miles and then have to spend 5k or more to replace it. They know its an issue, but they don't care.
