dial in 1000ft,
How low would you have to fly to avoid radar? I thought 1,000 feet would be way too high. I was thinking you'd have to fly around 150 feet or so. But I don't know.

Only class B has towered runways at night. I think even BTR (class C)goes untowered at night. I know KNEW does.
You can control the lights by tuning into the radio and hit the comm button. A few airports are like this. In fact the vast majority of airports don't have towers.
Landing a 777 with lights wouldn't be that hard for a well trained pilot.
hell I feel like firing up FSX and taking the 747 on this route and checking it out.
Class C airports like Baton Rouge aren't allowed to land 777's.
Also, when Baton Rouge truly closes, they don't usually allow incoming flights. I've been stranded in Dallas many times because of this.
I've also landed in BR when they stayed open a little longer in the tower to land planes coming in a few minutes late.

I find it very very hard to believe that airports would empty the SINGLE most important position of an airport at any time.

I fly alot
Clearly not enough. BTR goes unmanned around 10p IIRC.

I've landed at BTR at 1:55am?

See my post above. I stated USUALLY. I also don't recall Boeing 777's taking off and landing in BR.
This model of airplane necessitates a certain class of airport to land it.

Exactly. She could tell us if they are dead or alive.

If the airport is closed, why would they man the tower?
Guys, there would have to be some sort of lighting/radar guiding a 777 into proper landing position, not just a few flash lights.
This will not end up being a stolen plane.
It is intriguing that the incident happened right after they were to switch from one country to another for communications

Was it ever explained? That picture some guy took out of his departing planes window of what looked like a plane burning in the water?

When the wreckage is found, where will they bury the survivors?

Great one from reddit
quote:
Only one scenario makes sense. It's a hijacking and the Malaysians are cooperating with the hijackers to ensure the safe return of the passengers. Subsequently, the hijackers are telling them what to say publicly and they are doing it: "Say the plane turned around." "Ok. Now, if you ever want to see your people again, deny you said that!"
And the Chinese found out and are similarly being blackmailed: "Release some satellite photos with white blobs and say you found it." "Ok, now say 'j/k'!"
This scenario explains everything.

Bullshitism apparently.

Except...I'm pretty sure the plane landed by now.
They went from hijackers to kidnappers at that point.

My mind just got blown. Seems legit.

Oh yeah. On that thought, I thought hackers and reddit could take over the world or something. They can't find the plane?
