Currebt road closings in Eastern Nebraska
Minimize the window to the left.
Currebt road conditions in Iowa
Iowa only has a few roads marked "Impassable" but a lot of snow and ice covered roads.

isn't often that we get a slow build Winter weather event. This one will last the better part of two days.

Plus whatever happens on Thursday

To me Thursday is the true disaster waiting to happen bc stuff will start melting a bit + whatever precip we get and dumbasses who have been couped up are gonna go out and shite is gonna freeze back over

Never mind what time it started snowing, why the hell are you running 60MPH on a snow covered road?!

What's looking to come through tomorrow evening/night is going to be wet, then transition into freezing rain and sleet, with maybe some snow. A potential icing like that is worse than a snow event as it tends to ice up more quickly and more thickly than just snow. Entergy and Demco baws fixin' to make some truck-nuts levels of overtime pay.

You're giving the absolute worst case scenario for the area like it's gospel. Its much more likely to be a non event as precipitation totals are low, little to no ice is expected, and the temperature will rapidly rise to near 40 in the sun on Tuesday morning. That's a nice day in a lot of Northern states this time of year.

Is the Mobile/Saraland area gonna get any snow/ice? We normally never do, but was just curious.

Just east of Knoxville TN the weather forecast went from yesterday's Winter storm watch to today's winter storm warning.
Just now the sky went from haze sort of obscuring the sun to clouds totally obscuring.

Predicted snowfall for tonight through to Tuesday morning built from one inch likely to 4 to 8 inches likely. But the bad part of the forecast followed with ice on Thursday followed by single digit lows and warming to above freezing on Sunday.

We've had worse, but we were twenty years younger.

Radar says the first wave is almost here, I'm ready. Had the boy split the firepit wood, stump block and all. Tomorrow will be a play day. Tonight I'll keep warm from the inside (multiple ways). I fully expect that kids might not go to school this week, I feel like the district here tries to use snow days any time they can so they don't miss out.

She's at the FedEx facility across from the airport, driving from Germantown. She was fine once she got on 240. Thanks though!

and they really need to revisit the overpass lanes at 240/40

They just rebuilt that entire interchange back in 2003.

Just out of curiosity, if your wife was going from Germantown to the Fed Ex Hub, what was she doing anywhere near the 40/240 interchange?

I go under that sucker on the way to work every morning... 240 to Sam Cooper...

No way in HELL I would take southbound 240 to 40 east and go over that flyover, and certainly not in snow or ice... or rain... or dry... or sunny... or cloudy...
