Prior to retiring, I bought some of these annoyatrons and placed them around the office 1 week before I retired. I only disclosed this on the day of retirement. It absolutely drove the IT people and the owner of the company nuts. If any of you are looking for a special prank then this is it.

There was a great thread about one of these pranks probably 10 years ago on OT lounge. Can anyone find it?

Google shows multiple of these threads.

Here's one of them.

ETA: Google has links to that giant Annoyatron thread, but like the other post said, it's no longer here.

We had a guy go ballistic, screaming and throwing shite, after someone put one in the ceiling tile above his desk.

Unfortunately none of them are THE thread. I think that one is gone now.

I seem to remember that the original annoyatrons were much smaller and very easy to hide in small places.

When I retired I wanted to write my own out of office message. They wisely didn't let me.

I did something similar, hiding a small battery operated device that was making very faint beeping sounds occasionally in a co-worker's office. But the fun part was everyone else pretended they could not hear it.

Did anyone else catch her big ole fat titty on top of the cubicle wall at the 1:14 mark or was that just me?

They were. The originals were basically a little chip with a thin magnet on the back, and the only sound I remember it making was a cricket.

I knew a couple of folks that couldn't type without staring at the keyboard. So naturally I popped some buttons off and put them on the wrong buttons. One guy had problems typing for a week or two till he figured it out.

Not PC today, but back in the day I knew a friend would be out of town for a week and he was paranoid re privacy, so he always locked his door when out. I called his secretary & on being told he was out, asked her to leave a message on his door...her standard procedure I was aware of. " The Gay Pride meeting set for tomorrow nite has been moved to that Friday. " And it was there for the whole week.

There was a version that was only a single high pitched beep that was randomly timed. Sometimes the period was a minute or two and sometimes it might be several (10+) minutes. Made it impossible to locate. I need to find one of those again.
