Your "I Love Me Wall" is designed to let people know that you have done something in life. That being said, the guy who hangs everything there from his Middle School Perfect Attendance award through his last Employee of the Month certificate, well... that says something about him as well.

A properly crafted wall tells your story. A childhood photo or two, your college diploma, any major accomplishments (military certs or honors) and a couple of tasteful photos from your adult life. Like the one where you are capturing Saddam or next to a giant fish you caught. A tasteful wall also gives someone waiting in your office something to look at. There is nothing as uncomfortable as sitting in someone's office when there isn't a damn thing to look at.

Just a few things my SO gave me. An old photo of riverboats on the levee and some carved wood animal figures.

I make it a point to not even have my own stapler.

I can be up and outta there in a heartbeat if either of us decides my presence is not rewarding. Smart upper management takes notice that my office always appears this way. They generally try to avoid pissing me off.

I'm wondering how old the cluckster's children are now. I imagine they'll have accounts soon.

My home office has a few nice LSU paintings and our degrees. My work office has a picture on my desk with my family and that's it.

An upper management type at a former employer had photos, plaques, diplomas, et al that featured him as the focal point.

A new hire was in his office for the first time and asked “what’s this, the I love me room”?

I have kids, so I have a few pictures of the family. I also have three framed wildlife art, and a few awards for tenure at my company. Also a small plant that my wife said rarely needs water that I keep on my desk.

Management usually wants you to put a few momentos or decorations in your office so it doesn't look like you're ready to bolt at a moments notice. Makes it seem like you're there to stay if you have a few things hanging on the wall. Also it shows a few things about your personality and puts people more at ease when in your office.

I don't have shite. The secretary asked me why I don't have anything and I told her I see my wife enough.

But really, I just like to keep work and personal as separate as possible.

I have a framed print of the 1861 Forts and Military Posts of the United States, a few photos of my family, a few golf trophies from tournaments that the company paid for me to play in, my diplomas on the wall, and an item that sat on my Grandfather's desk before he retired. Other than that, no need to get crazy.

I share an office with my boss. Maps of the land we farm, open cabinets of binders upon binders of soil data, closed cabinets of financials, a cotton scale, and photos relevant to our families’ history in agriculture beautify these walls.

I have someone who does that. There is a book that comes by with choices of artwork in it, I pick some and the following Monday the new art work is hung.

In my early career days I brought in my own artwork - Terry Redlin prints. Not any more though.
