Forgot where I read this, but I like this ELI5 description

Adjusting a picture on the wall because it is slightly crooked = NOT OCD
Adjusting a picture on the wall even though it is already straight = OCD

I have to put my left shoe on first, always. When I go to the shoe store and the clerk gives me the right one I always tell him I have to try on the left one since my left foot is bigger.

I have to step on the tresh hold of the plane door before I board.

The little latch that holds the tray up on a plane. It has to be exactly vertical. That's all I got.

I close all the cabinets when I go in the kitchen,bathroom,etc...

I also like to keep rugs at 90 degree angles.

eta: I also always put left sock before right and left shoe before right.

I'm the exact opposite. Everything has to end in even numbers.

I probably wash my hands four times an hour. I get up to wash my hands in the middle of meals.

I can't stand garbage paper
of any kind. Reciepts, straw wrappers, bags, I discard it ASAP

Same here on the gas amount and price. And I won't go back to that gas station if it is difficult to get it rounded off.

I only do things in prime numbers or numbers divisible by five.

I don't even realize I'm doing it.

Drives my wife crazy.

I eat the edges of all chocolate candy first before eating the middle - Reese's, m&m's, kit kats, three musketeers, snickers, you name it. I find it weird when someone just bites into those types of candy. In my head, I'm screaming, "You are ruining it! You don't deserve that candy!"

actually it's more like

Adjusting a picture on the wall because it is slightly crooked = NOT OCD
Adjusting a picture on the wall even though it is already straight = OCPD
Adjusting a picture on the wall 113 times because if you don't do it exactly that many times, bad things will happen = OCD

OCD = repetitive behaviors (compulsions) based around anxiety-based obsessions, often with numerology having significance

OCPD = anal retentiveness and quests for perfection, like the guy from Double Dare

Same here. To add to that, though, all of my tshirts are organized by color.

You've got to savor that. You'll be wishing you had eaten them individually when the world runs out of chocolate in 2020,
