I lost a middle school football game 70 something to nothing.

Ridiculous. That is an insult to the losing team.
Agreed. I played on a terrible high school basketball team. We once got beat 100-25, but I think it would have been more embarrassing if the other teams stopped trying.

I bet a bunch of coaches make a point to try and win by exactly 41

If you can win by 100, then you do it.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. My son in law is a head coach at a local high school. He’s had to face both types of games over his career. He’s chosen to let off the gas to respect another teams kids and coaches and he’s also been on the other end. Had teams keep pedal to the metal against us. Had us out-sized and out manned at every position and faced a hurry up offense to try to get the score as high as possible. Also had coaches realize they could “name the score” vs us and they choose to play reserves in second half.
From my experience- where it’s kids involved- you can play hard but choose respect and sportsmanship with your opponent. That type culture goes a long way in developing character in young men long after their playing days are over.

What a bunch of pathetic pussies. One year Farmerville thrashed the frick out of us (something like 72-13) but no one pissed or moaned about it being "unfair". We learned, we adapted and we went on with life.
This whole philosophy pushing to cement something as subjective as "fair" is as ridiculous as it is unending.

Well said sir.
At the pro level, men are being paid, scores should be run up.
With kids, when a team can “name the score” it becomes more about what you can teach about respect while winning, not about how much of a schmuck you can be by margin of victory.
I saw a coach call timeout in a game that was 63-3 so they could score 70. In high school, I find that classless. Players and coaches won’t do that in the pros but they should imho.
All that being said, no coach should be suspended for margin of victory, unless it’s a player safety issue.

The “adults” that put this policy into place should be immediately fired and banned from ever serving on a committee in the future.
Absolutely pathetic and ridiculous.

Long Island is much more red than the rest of the city. They are probably 60/40 dem-rep at this point and get redder the further out you go.

This is terrible. I remember the good ol' days when things like this were handled right on the Scotlandsville football field...

The winning coach left his 1st string in during the 4th quarter. Until I heard this, I supported him, now not so much.

Two undefeated teams gave Long Island a way to cement their belonging to New England moral superiority.

Liberals ruining sports. This is only the beginning.
What are they supposed to do? Kneel the ball?

I don't have a problem with it on philosophical or moral grounds. I just think it's poor coaching if you have the starters in there when you're crushing the other side. You may need your reserves to step up later in the season due to injuries and they could use the game experience now.
I don't have any problem with running your entire offense with the bench players in, either. Your QB doesn't learn anything by running "HB Lead" 3 times and punting.

My junior year in high school, we were down 80-0 at halftime. The coach told us we could just go home, or play 8 minute running quarters in the second half. We chose to keep playing. The other team had their fourth string kids in and we held them to one TD the rest of the way and lost 88-0. It wasn’t the opposing coach’s fault. We had a few of our starters hurt and only had 10 players left (9 man football) and they were way better than us. Suck it up and get better. 42 points is just a stupid rule.

The high school I work at lost 61-0 in a rivalry game.
Unfortunately, there’s no committee in Texas to discuss blowouts. It’s a shame the opposing coach doesn’t have to explain that his team kicked our team’s arse up a down the field.

What a bunch of vaginas.
There are playoff basketball games every year in LA that end in 80 point blowouts.
Some teams are better than others. We can’t all be the same.

Should’ve just done like Les Miles did against Ole Miss years ago and start taking a knee with 6 minutes left
