re: Urban Meyer is a top 10 CFB coach all time and would be a disaster at LSU

Urban is as big an a-hole as Brian Kelly

What is absurd is a player can get benched at any moment. They can lose their scholarship if they don't perform. A coach, when they show a lack of ability to do their job, you are stuck with them because of their contract. I was pleased with the BK hire on the front end, but I have never liked him. Seems like an A-hole and just not much likeable about the guy in general. The problem with him, Les, Jimbo, and any other coach is their contracts. They get paid regardless, but they aren't held to the same standard as their players.
I'm not sure if Louisiana doesn't need to adopt what Mississippi had at one point, which is no state employees contract can last more than 4 years. There has to be some way to navigate this moving forward. No coach lasts 10 years unless they are amazingly successful, but that is super rare. I also understand the cubbard was bare when CBK came in, but with the portal and NIL (for those who are good at working them) it doesn't take 4-5 years to rebuild anymore.

Stay away from the Midway on Saturday night was always the rule when I lived there.

8u to 12u was a hot mess. Coach drama, parent drama, it was generally unhealthy. My fault was staying on a team solely because we had friends (parents) on the team and my son had friends on the team. 13u we played on a team with a coach who picked kids with talent, but were solid young men. It was a completely different experience. We were good and zero drama. Went from AA to AAA. That didn't mean other teams didn't act a donkey, but it was a lot easier to deal with when our parents just sort of ignored stupid behavior.
This fall we have a new coach, half the kids stayed on the team and we added 5 more kids. The same environment exists. Both coaches (13u and 14u) played D1 Baseball and are very laid back. Expect a lot from the kids, but don't scream like psychopaths when little Johnny doesn't do something right.
Play on a team with solid coaches, parents are rational adults and play on a team where your kid gets better. The stupidity that is travel ball is much easier to handle, or at least it is from my perspective on a solid team with good parents.

I worked at Enterprise in Slidell around 98-99. There was a closed restaurant by our office. We were working one day and all of a sudden there were cops everywhere. Turns out someone had broken in through a stove vent on the roof. They got wedged in and couldn't get out. They had been dead for an unknown amount of time. I think only bones and clothes were left ifvi remember correctly. The remains were found when someone was doing an inspection.

I saw no reason to let up on the pass game. You also had a RB who was on point last night. Should have stuck with the hot hand.
re: As you get older do you find your friends more irritating?
Posted by The Great Hambino on 8/19/24 at 12:47 pm to Geekboy
I turn 50 next year. I have kids ages 12 and 9. I find that with as busy as life stays between work, school, and my kids sports/activities I prioritize my time with people. It's not that I'm irritated with people, I just choose to keep the "extra" stuff at arms length. Both of my kids play travel/select sports (baseball and volleyball). We have been lucky with both to have a few couples in that world that are solid people.

What’s worse is people who complain about what grownups do with their free time when it doesn’t impact them in any shape, form, or fashion.
