“if I was a nurse I would jump all over the free money”

Free money my arse.Traveling nurses always got the worst pts.Like the 400 lb’er ate up with bedsores or the confused combative pt. that was constantly pulling out their I.V’s,N.G tubes or catheters,or the pt.with constant diarrhea.
Travelers always got treated like crap, the regular staff tended to resent them because they were making a good bit more money than them.

I never wanted to travel.

“Is there state income tax in N Y.?”

I have read pro football players have to pay state income tax in every state they play a game in.In NY there is a city income tax.

I imagine nurses would get hit up for the same taxes.

Depends, the first half of the year I averaged 40 hours per week. The second half of the year I averaged 60+ hours (I was paying off my student loans and car). My 3 weeks I worked strikes were all quoted for 60 hours (5 12s back to back) but we always ended up with over 80 hours

So with New York’s (city and state) taxes, realistically, how much of the 11 grand would you be able to clear ?

Oh, so you worked full time year-round? I was thinking you meant you just mainly worked certain weeks for strikes.

No they can be very rare. I worked 2 in the beginning of the year and 1 at the end of the year. There were none during the summer months. You can't live off of them but they are a good side hustle. It was an extra $32k after taxes for me last year for 15 days of work. I just got my shift covered when they popped up

It’s true. You either get a great one or one that is borderline retarded. Not much in the middle

There hasn’t been pro football played in New York City in more than half a century.

Overnight ER veterinarians are getting over $2k a night for relief work. In ATL.

And it doesn't matter if the patient dies. You still get the money.

I don’t think that’s true.

Looks like NFL was at Shea until 1983.

Travel play is nuts. My wife is a locums NP, but has a contract at a local hospital so she doesn't have to leave town. After her taxes are set aside she clears in à shift what I clear in a week turning wrenches in a plant.

When you say you “cleared $140k” was that after expenses or after taxes?

I would hope so, because $140K gross as a travel RN is very easy
