1. What's going on w/ surging # unmarried men?

New study suggests "It's the phones!" is a big part of story. It finds "increasingly strong link between how quickly an area adopted 4G & lower marriage rates for non-college-educ men (but not college grads) who live there."

quote:

2. The study's thesis: Phones -> Less socializing -> Less marriage -> Less work for less-educated men:

"Their narrative goes something like this: The increase in men’s screen time during the smartphone era hasn’t come directly at the expense of work. Instead, it mostly displaced time with friends and other forms of leisure. These shifts in social dynamics, in turn, seem to have reduced marriage rates, especially for men who were less marriageable to begin with. On top of that, since married men have always worked more than single men, reducing marriage rates eventually reduces men’s work, too." @RAVerBruggen @FamStudies

Just wait until they integrate these Jap sex bots with XVideos AI platform. It’s good night for marriage in the west.

Decline of morality and Church centered families and communities.

Marriage as an institution is longer coveted or understood from it's proper perspective.

The average female wants absolutely nothing to do with the average male in that age group.

True. I can only imagine how much I would have if I had invested every dollar that I have spent on dates and vacations and randomly impulsive purchases because of my wife.

90 percent of the women are rejecting 90 percent of the men. News travels, so lots of young guys think they have no shot so why bother trying.

Eventually the ugly fat women will realize they can’t all marry 10s (or even get attention from them) and will reset their standards

Number of men going to college is also shrinking dramatically.

Less education and less chance to meet someone.

Most men going into trades fail to continue through apprenticeship due to not realizing the physical demands and long hours

Have you seen how ridiculous young women are these days? Social media and dating apps have vastly overinflated egos and self-worth to the point where it's no wonder why young men are opting out and holding out until they find the diamond in the rough that is a normal, cool, decent looking chick.

And I always half-joked about this:

..but as time goes on the more I think it's true. Once sex dolls/bots are perfected, women (and marriage in general) are in BIG trouble.

The good news is that time and experience should eventually shift this pendulum back in the right direction. But there will be a lot of reckoning from young girls these days when they are in their 30s and 40s and the reality of their choices and their obscenely ridiculous standards will slap them square in the face. It won't be an easy pill to swallow for most of them I assume.

Gotta be because women think they are all top 1% and deserve the top 1% of men in the world or that men don't want whores. Or both.

I get it.

Cause i ask this question and have yet, after 9 years been able to have it answered with a legit answer.

Since i have 3 kids and thats not part of the equations, name one thing of actual value that getting married again would add to my life?

Because if there isn’t anything of value that it will add to my life, why would i even want to try for it?

I agree that's A problem, but not the problem here. Most people just look at the pros of marriage versus the cons and don't see the benefit. Betting 1/2 your net worth against a 50% or greater chance of failure is a bad bet.

What gives me pause is they're talking about the demographic of ages 20 to 39.

Statistically, the average age of a first marriage for men today are right at 30 years old. The average in 2000 was right at 26 years old. That shift alone to getting married later would naturally create a large population of single men in the 20 to 39 year old range.

Is it that men just aren't getting married at all or they're just getting married later?

I wonder how many people realize that large numbers of young men who are not having sex (regardless of reason or who's fault it is) is a significant driver of societal upheaval, violence, and revolution.

I guess the conversation was focused on women too much.

You knew eventually the "WELL WHAT ABOUT MEN!!!" articles would start.

Heres what I see - a lot of women 25-45 who have been given great jobs for the sake of "gender equity" and with those jobs they travel endlessly, consume endlessly, and have absolutely no interest in doing anything that isnt a self-focused endeavor like marriage and having children.

And yes, as stated, they have very little interest in an "average" guy. They either want the multimillionaire or they're going to be the rich wine aunt.

It doesnt help that the entire culture obsessively feeds them anti-male, anti-marriage, and anti-child propaganda.

I dont think women are evil, they're just taught from a young age to prioritize themselves and that selfishness is a good thing for a woman, even if its at odds with a larger purpose.

Poll after poll shows men want marriage and children and women do not (there is significant amounts of women that want marriage/children but a very significant amount that say they do not). Our feminist society is all about ending birth rates and turning women into luxury consumers instead of mothers/wives.

absolutely correct. But its not the only factor. I think divorce laws that favor the woman also have influenced young men to be averse to marriage.

People thinking about marriage in the "government" or "modernist" sense of the word is exactly what's wrong. Marriage isn't supposed to be a bet or come down to chances of succeeding being minimal. It's supposed to be a union of souls where there love imitates the love Jesus Christ has for his Church.
