Even if you hate Catholics, the building is still a historical work of art. It stood through all the wars and revolutions France has gone through the hundreds of years.

BBC says officials are guessing this is caused by ongoing renovation work. Imagine being the contractor hired and subsequently burning down a world-renowned building.

The fact that renovation is happening right now makes me think it was accidental

it isn't being destroyed

at this point... it's a total loss

sad that a centuries old church... 1 of the true architectural marvels of the world... is now gone

This is really sad to watch. How does a building like this just goes up in flames?

Even if you aren’t religious that building is historic!

What a huge loss. One of the top 10 most iconic structures of all time.
