honest discussion

This isn't possible. Many people don't want the truth.

As a white guy... I don’t know what to do.. I treat people the same, I raise my kids to view a mans character and I’m still thrown into this white man bad group.. I did grow up in a privileged life but many of my friends didn’t.. what discussion do we need to have is the question

You're neighbor isn't going to want to sit down and chat after you burn his fricking house down. The time for your honest discussion ended the moment you destroyed what was mine

The solution is trust. And it starts at home. Quit blaming your situation on someone else. Really try to stop crime being committed by your children. Be involved in their lives.
Quit spreading your negative views on others.

Sounds good, until I read through the thread and it's literally just another "discussion" on Tigerdroppings explaining and alluding to all the problems that black people have and what they need to do to fix it.

It's been said twice already and i'll echo it a third time. People don't want an honest discussion, they just want the other side to sit down while they point their finger in their face telling them what to do.

If you want to talk to me, then talk to me, but just know I probably have about as much interest in being lectured and read stats as you do.

No you’re not

This comment is dumb, man. Not all black folks think every white man is a horrible racist.

Yep, liberal progressives definitely don't want to discussion freeing blacks from the Democrat welfare plantation. Most poverty and crime is associated with single parent households. The government has got to stop paying baby mommas to have children.

I am. I grew up in an upper middle class family. I’m the poster child for white upper middle class privilege and I’m not ashamed of that.. My family worked themselves up threw poverty and I’m not sorry for carrying the torch of nominal success to my children.

Pretty sick of all this "Need a Discussion" BS....

Floyd committed a crime, Cop was a idiot and will be sent to prison.

Just stop committing crimes and contribute to society needs to be the calling card for the black community.

There are 500 thousand jobs available in Texas, go to work, contribute, raise your families and be good citizens period.

Until we can all call out white trash and black trash equally; until we can say all lives matter; until we all look at individual and their actions first And only bring in race when it's proven to be a factor; until we have same expectations for individuals regardless of race; and until we at least quit ignoring the decades long special treatment some races are given with govt programs, corporate outreach programs and hiring and firing affirmative action programs, and education admissions policies and scholarships including affirmative action and quotas if not our right ending them as they obviously either don't count or don't work nothing will change.

AND it’s a two way street. When we say start with personal accountability, we don’t mean just the regular ordinary citizens, we mean cops TOO!

None of this makes you the evil white man. The only person telling you this is yourself.

Being a bigot would make you the evil white man.

What you have is what every family of every color would like to have for themselves and their children. Success in and of itself doesn’t make anyone evil, and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who believes it does.

Stop lying to yourself in order to feel oppressed. No one cares about you that damn much.

Historically speaking, black community schools have been underfunded. This snowballed into what we have today and is now cyclical among families.

even if FedGov gave out recommendations, not all departments will follow them (nor should they) because the Ames, Iowa police department has a whole different day to day operational tempo than the NYPD.

In a country of 350,000,000 people, with 50 states, 3,007 counties, and 19,495 cities we shouldn’t have a broad sweeping all regulating manual. That would be insane. Especially considering laws change from city, to county, to state.

If we want a general set of guidelines about the use of physical force, ok. That makes sense, but it would have to be severe restricted or else it would get out of hand rapidly.

There are people protesting saying he should feeL bad for it. We had a president say that his family didn’t build that. So, yeah, people outside his head are saying he’s an evil white man because his parents and he are successful

A couple things I didn't read in this thread...

BOTH sides have issues and both sides have responsibilities... NOT from the past, but from now. We all can do better...

Big problem though... I can not do much to fix the issues/problems (as I see them) in the black community. As a government, we reward them for having children and for not being married. Yet as a white community we criticize them for doing those same things.

I can make solid attempts to change my way of thinking about the black community, BUT the black community can't force that change.

NONE of the above will happen fast.. It just won't. Society and thoughts just do NOT change that quickly.

What the rioters are doing does not help at all but interestingly doesn't makes me feel much worse about them. I can understand their frustration...I guess. There is no way I can FULLY relate though. Joining them WILL NOT HELP.

Frustrating on all sides.

Bring it on...

What is playing out now has played out over and over in my lifetime. From LA, to Charlottesville, Baltimore, Ferguson, and on and on. And every time it’s the same thing, a demand for “change”. But it’s obvious that people don’t want real change because very few are willing to have an honest discussion about the root problems that cause such racial strife in this country. As long as that’s the case, nothing will change. Until we can have an honest discussion on race, a discussion that doesn’t get shut down immediately over claims of “racism”, then nothing will change. It sucks, but it’s the cold hard truth. If you want real change, then we have to face some uncomfortable truths, both races, and there just are not that many on either side willing to do that.
