Parents: Jessica Ivey and Samuele Jenkins,
Disclaimer: No judgements on the parents: I was a feral free range child.

How is it the old lady's fault that the kid stepped in front of her vehicle?
It is not. From the article:
quote:
The preliminary investigation revealed that the child was attempting to cross the street outside of a crosswalk with another 10-year-old boy, when he entered the roadway and was hit.

Would agree if you were talking about Franklin Blvd (ie hwy 74, Wilkinson blvd). I’m thinking there is more to this story

The parents were with him on the way TO the grocery. They let the two boys run ahead on the way home.

I live 10 mins from where this happened. Feel sorry for the other kid and the driver. No way in hell a kid of ANY age should be crossing this road. Dude has previous arrest for DV.
Here are the prized duo.

You wouldnt do shite, but lets hear the rest of this little fantasy. What exactly would you do to the police or the attorneys or the judge or the jury?

And? I used to cross Barataria Blvd all of the time to go to the dollar cinema when I was that age. This is a horrible precedent.

In elementary school I was walking along Old Hammond Highway to 7-11 or whatever it was. We also ran around playing and hanging in the woods. There has to be something more bc if just this, they did nothing wrong per se.

There doesn't technically have to be drug charges if they were intoxicated or high while this happened to their child.
Why would that factor in? They were in the home. The kids were outside. How did their intoxication contribute to this accident? Are you saying it made them make the wrong decision to allow a 10 year old and a 7 year old go outside and play unattended? Because I don't see a problem with that decision.
