Well said — and I drag NOPD, but not the officers individually. The leadership is an embarrassment.
I don’t blame this officer from walking off the job, and it’s fitting the Chief would publicly shame him. For what? The Chief proved what we all know: NOPD is doomed because its leadership is severely lacking.

I feel bad for the cops. They’ve been put in an impossible situation. The political “leadership” has reduced them to report writers and targets. As in, somebody steals a car just write a report and move on. No point arresting them since they’ll just get released in a couple hours. Go patrol around the French qtr or the 9th ward at night by yourself. Don’t worry, if you get in any trouble backup is only 30 minutes away. The only way you’ll stop crime is if a really dumb crook does something right under your nose instead of waiting for you to drive around the corner and give him free reign for the next 4 hours.

Why is there a news story about one guy quitting when officers are quitting in droves.
