New Orleans is the murder capital of the US and you think they should be dedicating more man power to handing out DUIs?

It has to be very low as well. Police are basically non existent on the road at night

Houston was around 1100 from what i could find. Which is shockingly low considering there are hundreds of cars on 19th street every night

It’s like playing Frogger driving through the CBD. I left work at 3:30 today, less traffic, but the crazy driving far worse than the 5 pm traffic. More room to swerve, turn from opposite lane, etc. I thank God every day when I get to work and home safely.

Police don’t get paid to do all that paperwork. Hell, 1/2 of them cannot even read.

Cops I know bitch about having to do 4-5 hours of paperwork when they give a DUI. I’d bet that has something to do with it

In Louisiana, operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol or other impairing substances remains a major cause of vehicle crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. In 2020, more than 40% of the motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana were alcohol-related. These alcohol-related crashes resulted in 332 fatalities. State and local law enforcement officials work year-round to identify impaired drivers and get them off our roads.

It's been that way for a while. IN fall 2020 i was rear-ended on the interstate by a guy that took out about 6 cars total. The motorist patrol assist guys, who are awesome, told mew the guy was straight up loaded, barely knew where he was. They told me to watch, the cops would not arrest him. Said NOPD hadn't been making DWI arrests for a while because they are short-handed and don't have time to make the arrest and do the paperwork. Sure enough, they let him go.

I may dislike MADD in many instances but this is why they exist and hopefully they deploy some of their influence

Well when you patrol basically a 3rd world country you have to have priorities. Guess DUI isn't ranking due to all the murders and attempted murders.

I prefer to believe impaired driving is drastically down in New Orleans. Whatever that new Police Chief broad is doing in conjunction with the mayor’s leadership is working!!!!
