Hi bunchie, this is your conscience. You are indeed being a dweeb about this. This is pure posturing by the council for people like you to eat up.

This is all BS. They do this type of stuff every few years and Mardi Gras stays the same. They don't even have enough policemen to cover the route at this point, they aren't going to be able to enforce 90% of this and the last thing Police want to do during Mardi Gras is deal with Code Violations. Landrieu did this with the Port O Let's one year and very little changed. You really think Policemen are going to wander the neutral ground searching for Folding chairs during Mardi Gras? They will try to break up the early claiming of large pieces of Real Estate and once things get rolling or close to it they will give up. Half of Endymion is Patrolled by JPSO and other agencies. They aren't going confiscate tents and folding chairs in Orleans.

Bring back so many flambeaux that there's one per ten riders.

Just kidding, but considering the problems the city needs to overcome, this seems silly.

Of all the needs of the city, this is where the City Council invests its energies ..... and folks wonder why and what happened to 'it use to be.....'

I would think they were thinking of Confederate flag beads… it’s absurd we still have those in 2024

The rules id like to see:

1. Ladders at least 6 feet from the curb,

2. ladders at least a foot apart from each other,

3. no chairs in front of the ladders, and

4. Every person has an easement to cross your set up and if fully wall it off with tables, chairs, etc. so people can’t easily walk through, the oldest and youngest male in your group goes to jail.

But honestly, the worst people on the Mardi Gras parade route are the people with giant amplified speakers and a bunch of drunks skipping around their terrible playlist for all to hear.

There might be some hand to hand combat on Orleans Ave. for Endymion Saturday... Those knuckleheads get very serious about their space an possessions... Get the popcorn ready..

New Orleans is a cesspool. I don’t get the appeal of it at all, I’m from BR, nothing special but no one acts like it is. We know it’s a dump but people act like New Orleans is so special, frick that city. The moment you get off I-10 there’s tent cities, I don’t feel safe anywhere there.

Maybe if it’s a common take, it’s got some merit to it. Sorry you live in a shite hole 3rd world country so you can catch beads a couple times a year. Grow up.

As Chalmette stated, no it isn’t. It’s about Confederate beads but it seems it will also ban any medallion bead (shrimp, fleur de-lis, etc) that are great throws but will be included in the ban.

100 percent going after pop up canopies which many people refer to as tents. That language will get cleaned up.

The idea is that the police don’t enforce this, code enforcement will. But when people start getting in fights with code enforcement, the police will have to get involved.

This is a situation where the actions of se people are ruining it for everyone.

You can put up anything you want on private property, it’s the blocking off on public property that this is trying to curtail.

Need to get the NAAWP involved!

On the news one of the wonderful council women even mentions it targets the "Chads"

Landrieu did this with the Port O Let's one year

One issue was that some tents had bucket toilets and when they folded the tent and left, the 5 gallon bucket of sh*t remained and the city workers had to deal with it.
