CCTider, that’s cheap, very cheap. Imagine investing in $70k worth of sound and lighting (if you are doing it right and have backups), truck and trailer including gas, marketing/promo expenses (approx $1000 per month), liability insurance, then have it to split 7-9 ways minimum between musicians and crew. Add in sound check (3 hours) gig (3-4), loaf out (1), travel, parking if applicable, rehearsal (2 hours once a week if doing right, top bands have 2-3 a week including dance), add in client consultations and time spent booking/talking to potential clients or answering emails during the week... to top it of, Saturday’s and maybe Friday’s are your only big day for events to make that money with July and August being slow.
It’s nearly impossible to be at the top of the game as only a weekend warrior so you have to make a living to be able to put in the time to make all the wheels turn and put on a guaranteed show stopping performance every time. Trust me, it’s not just cheesy wedding songs...it’s every genre you can imagine.

Not really. Someone was researching that band and found the thread and felt the need to comment. Apparently they are shady.

From the Facebook post:
Dumbasses went cheap on a band, you get what you pay for.

JESUS FCKING CHRIST, you can get an actual touring, signed artist for way cheaper than this. Holy sh!t!

The only bad review on any internet links is tiger droppings? Hundreds of other reviews with 5 out of 5.

What the frick is with these random 2018 accounts with no posts bumping old threads?
This is a trend this year on this site.

I wonder if they accidentally double booked and had to find an excuse to get out of there

Weird bump
but for anyone who didn't read the previous posts, friends of the bride and groom posted negative reviews everywhere only to have them deleted afterwards. The reviews on all the websites mean jack shite if they won't leave the negative ones up.

Yep. Many people don’t realize the sacrifices professional musicians make to chase their dream. I’ve had to quit jobs at like 5 different pizza places because they wouldn’t work around my schedule.

Maybe.. but you would never put on a tour-quality show with a well-known national act for that much. Sound, staging, and lighting for a 16 piece band is expensive. “Industrial sound & lighting” is pretty vague but if that means a decently-sized line array system with lots of moving headlights shite starts adding up quickly.
By the time you factor in PA, rigging, lights, power distribution, and staging you’re easily talking $100k+ of gear. Add in a crew, qualified electrician, liability coverage (flown PA systems can and have killed people) etc. Doubtful that these guys have that stuff in storage, so they’re probably renting everything from one of the big production companies and upcharging it to turn a profit.
That being said, looks like these guys might be sketch so maybe “industrial sound & lighting” means the same PA they always use.

By the way, if I pay a wedding band $3000 and then they leave after one song, I'm beating the shite out of somebody. You're a hack in a band where each man is walking with $400-500 each. You get up wherever the bride tells you to and play the fricking music.
Exactly.
You’re a shitty cover band. You are beneath me. fricking go play music as I say, when I say it.

Wasn't there a thread a while back complaining about a different band, and one of the band members set up an account just to come on here and defend herself?

Yeah. I remember that.
It wasn't a brass band though, I think it was a female quintet.

Had friends look into them for their wedding recently and I knew of the name from working on and off with a planner. Was always mixed reviews, so when I really dug, found a lot more information. I Googled “NOLA dukes scam” and hopped onto this, so yes random. 5 star reviews on wedding sites are a dime a dozen. Look at nearly every band listed on there, or every service for that matter. See how many less than 5 you can find. It’s easy to please 90% of your clients, but the great vendors are 100% guarantees...you don’t leave your wedding to chance or who what configuration shows up or if they are in a good mode and decide to perform in less than optimal conditions. No ones life was in danger (ie rain with electrical). Cold weather? Buckle up and smile. Everyone is outside. If it was a festival, I promise they would still perform. Why not a wedding?
Being on the production side of things and working with great bands in the past as well, I found it important to expose what needs to be exposed. No agent fees they advertise, yet that’s EXACTLY what they are. Company is based out of New York, I think started in Australia. Don’t know how much they pay their players but I would assume that money gets sent to the top. They have this same exact model in different cities all over the country. Crazy stuff.
You do your research, it’s interesting what you find.

Good for you! I’m glad it worked and they probably do great in most situations. It’s the 100% guarantee that others pay good money for that I believe is impossible when you send out multiple bands under one alias. No quality Control. Also, the less than honest way which they promote their biz. No agent fees??? See last post. Customizable to your taste, easy out for, we book multiple events...how are they going to duplicate one singer? No they’ll send who’s available.
Once again, very happy you had a good experience, every wedding deserves it.
