Nola Dukes Band out of New Orleans terrible review - Sharing for a friend

A friend of mine booked the NOLA Dukes Band for their wedding a couple weekends ago. I'll post his wife's FB post as she goes through everything that happened, but for the TLDR posters:
Wedding reception held outdoors inside of a tent (walls included). Band claims they're too cold to play. They're provided a heater next to the stage. Claim they're still too cold, play first dance song for the couple then depart. Fist fights nearly ensue. Band claims contract stated they don't play in cold weather, though the couple claims they never even signed a contract. Band keeps $600 deposit plus remaining $2500 booking fee. Now refuse to answer any and all communication from the couple and have blocked their numbers.
Despite how poorly this post is written (I tried to edit it in some places, but gave up
), it appears as though the band deliberately showed up to say that they went so they could earn their money and then left abruptly.
I believe the low that night was around 30, but hearing from friends who attended, it was very comfortable inside of the tent and the heater provided was VERY LARGE and more than adequate. There seems to be an issue with the contract nonsense that could have blame fall on both parties, but overall what a shitty situation. This band is highly rated in the area also and I imagine they get a ton of work.
I'm just here as the messenger though. Thought I should spread this bad experience on behalf of the couple who had their wedding night ruined.

So I didn't want to do this, but when you go out of your way to make contact with your band and they deliberately ignore you, it makes you mad. I paid a $600 deposit to have the NOLA Dukes Band on my wedding night, plus the remaining balance of $2575. I never received a contract to sign or notice that the band can't play outside when it's cold.
The band manager, Randi Adlesic, spoke with the wedding coordinator who made her aware that "this is where you're playing" and provided an adequate amount of power for them . Bare with me it gets better. So the reason I know this is true is because I had to pay $1600 for a tent because the band was too big to play inside the plantation (Hint, hint--they knew they would be outside).
The day of my wedding they don't arrive until literally minutes before my reception, pretty crappy I know. Next, we go look for them and they are sitting in the bar area drinking on our money, you're welcome! Then the best part, they say they are not playing until they get a heater, soo we get them a huge heater like no lie this thing was awesome, not once did they say thank you but instead they said they will play 1 song then leave.
Now to my understanding they had proper cover for their equipment as stated in the worse "contract" ever lol like seriously where did you go to school, anyways we got them the heater and they were still unhappy, I'd call it lazy.
So I call the band manager Randi and ask wth is going on and why are they leaving, her response, "It's too cold for the equipment." Then her next response was "I'm at another event and too busy to talk to you!!!!!" So here I am on my wedding night and this band is paid in full and they decide to up and leave. Now this is how I see it. They live in New Orleans OK? Not some other state where the weather is extremely different. They have the weather channel, why not watch it or better yet why not inform me that you weren't going to play at my wedding instead of showing up just to leave? Next, they spoke with the plantation coordinator who informed them that they are not allowed to play inside due to their size and that we got a tent for them to be under. Bottom line they are a joke.

Im not reading all that shite.
I only have one question.
Why would you have a wedding outdoors at the coldest time of the year and hire a band that specifically states that they will not perform in cold weather?
Your friend is a kunt

TLDR but read the contract before you sign anything.

Can't answer that bud. It's not the way I would've handled things, but it just seems sketch to me that the band would even show up if they say they don't play in cold weather. And in that case, I can see keeping the deposit, but keeping the entire booking amount and not returning calls? Sucks for them royally.

Weather underground has the avg temperature for Jan 2nd as 61 degrees. Not really cold, I just picked a day and went back to 1999.

Maybe they didn't realize how cold it would be where those coordinating said wedding would choose to have them play.

Yeah but it happened to be 20 degrees this year

Probably showed up because they were assured the venue would be sufficient.
Showed up and it wasn't.

Sounds like an easy win in small claims court.

You hire a shitty, primadonna cover band. Expect shitty, primadonna cover band behavior.
Some of these dipshits are like the worst people on earth.
Hire a band you know, or a band that somebody you know knows. It's a much easier way to judge character and know you're hiring people that care.

I'll add this as another reason not to bother getting married. If I do, Justice of the damn Peace

Find someone you know to go take the quick course online to get certified to marry people. You could save some money and it'll be more personal too. That's what I'm doing. frick a JOP

This guy gets it. Listen to what this man has to say.
Also, I don't if she signed a contract with the band or did not sign a contract.
If she did, she better reread it. If they broke it then take them to small claims court as someone said.
Guess you could tell her to go to weddingwire and leave them a bad review as well.

Another friend just posted a review on the band's "The Knot" website about an hour ago and it's already been deleted. It appears they're doing everything they can to suppress knowledge of that night.

This is why I pay for everything with a credit card.
Screw me and I'll let them take your money.
