How about not paying all that money upfront without a contract. Seems pretty basic.

This fair usually has around 1500 or so in front of you...lol. It's a rush.

Should've hired Synchronicity instead.

I don't think I would pay $3000 for Springsteen to play my wedding

These pussies should stay on the 1st page.
I’ve toured for the last 20yrs.
Sideways snow in Yellowstone, sideways ice in Denver, subZ fricking Canada, froze-arse New Years & morning TV shows, midwest windstorms and insanely hot summer venues that any touring player and crew knows & deals with.
The audience seems to find a way to endure these Day After Tomorrow elements, so grow a f’ng pair and be glad someone’s paying you to do something not named Starbucks.

I heard this same band play at an outside wedding in December when it was in the upper 30s outside. They played fine and sounded good

The band was probably in the right, in this case. Would want to know how long the instruments were in the cold environment and how long it would take them to heat up to a good playing temperature. Most instruments will be pitch crazy with very cold temperatures. And, playing any musical instrument with very cold hands/arms is not a good thing. I wouldn’t blame the band as they probably didn’t want to give a substandard performance and this would have given them more bad press. Bride and groom should have had a contract too.

Yeah blowing the whole thing off and taking money you didn't earn is definitely a better look than your saxophone being too cold.
Also if this coterie of jackasses showed up to my wedding I'd lose my shite

They booked one, showed up to a WEDDING, played one song and left. You don't do that dude. They ruined someone's wedding. frick them. Now if there's more to the story, ok, but at face value, they agreed to a January wedding, they took money for it, they showed up, and then they bailed and kept all the money.
Don't defend them. That's bull shite.
Based on the quality of the rant, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suspect we aren’t quite getting the full story.
If this is the bride trying to look good in public, I don’t know how long I’d last on followup phone calls either.
Truly if weather was a concern - once in the forecast window both sides should’ve been in touch with each other to confirm courses of action. If the tents solid and the heater is pumping hot air- id have a hard time leaving the wedding.... but if I had a 20 degree draft and bridezilla in my face I might be more apt to call it a night.

And why is their contact address in Austin, Tx?
Looks like that suite number is just a mailbox service. Probably to give people the impression they have a booking agent in hip Austin.

This band is highly rated in the area also and I imagine they get a ton of work.
Literally never heard of them, lived in NOLA my whole life

Damn. $3100 for a wedding gig in Nola? I need to get back to New Orleans, and start playing whatever cheesy arse song a couple wants me to, then bang a brides maid afterwards.
Posted on 1/26/18 at 12:44 am to CCTider
That's pretty cheap for a wedding band...
Posted on 1/26/18 at 12:45 am to MrSmith
And that's why weddings have gotten completely out of control

Your friend needs to leave a direct review on the knot and Facebook. I’m in the wedding industry. They are a scam. They book multiple events in one evening for cheap and send out different bands under the same name ??. Some venues in Nola have gotten hip and say if they ever bring a different lineup, they are banned. Do the right thing, if you are busy, start a different band with a different name! Don’t sell people snake oil.
