So to recap the Trump supporter position here:

1. Russia is doing this because Biden is weak and they don’t fear a response from him

2. They didn’t do this to Trump because he is strong and at least theoretically they fear what he might do in retribution

3. Defending Ukraine is a waste of American lives and treasure

4. Trump was the first non interventionist President and would never fight for Ukraine because of #3 above

5. Biden is a war mongering globalist who wants to expend American lives and treasure in Ukraine

Is this about correct? Putin feared something Trump is way too smart to do, doesn’t fear something Biden is too weak to do?

Instead of mocking someone who was in politics for four years, what is your assessment of this situation as a POTUS that has been in politics for 50 years is involved now.

Why is this happening under HIS watch?

Trump is gone. You can quit blaming him for all of your ills.

One of the most bizarre aspects of this whole thing is how some people in this country have turned into Putin fanboys and started parroting Russian talking points.

Unfortunately, I believe that is a symptom of the lack of trust in our US media and politicians. We know what we know of Putin from our media. And now many cannot trust them because of how they’ve handled Covid, Trump, and everything else. Not a good place to be.

You just replied to a Progressive that rooted for all of those things you listed to happen, and then some. Even mocked those who saw this coming.

Now he's claiming he isn't a leftist, while touting leftist talking points in just about every reply.

I’m not mocking anyone. I just was recapping the positions I see espoused here. If I’m wrong feel free to correct.

frick that, no more U.S. military fighting other people's wars. Ukraine has 40+ million Ukrainians. You wanna keep your country? You fight for it. We'll give you aid but we ain't fricking wasting any more money and soldiers on bullshite wars. We saw with Afghanistan what happens when you fight other peoples wars. A country that size should be able to defend itself. The Ukraine has something to fight for, freedom. The Russians are fighting for Putin's bullshite. If you stay committed and prolong the war with good casualties, they'll quit.

What this misses, and what Putin knows, is that Trump is not resolute on anything but himself. Trump has no ideology other than Trump, and like Putin, that makes him rather dangerous and prone to disregarding the conventional wisdom and conventional rules.

Trump loyalists won't admit that because it requires them to acknowledge Trump is only patriotic in the sense that he conflates the USA with Donald Trump, but it's essential to understanding the manner in which Trump was able to avoid testing of the type Biden has seen.

You’re not a serious person and anyone who has posted here for any length of time can easy tell you’re a partisan hack who cares more about his political sports team than anything approaching objective analysis.

That you are so obsessed with me as to continue to reply to other people about my posts is pathetic btw. This will be my only response to you ITT. When I see you post anything else I’ll just scroll to the next reply.

Putin is an autocrat who rules his country with an iron fist. He is corrupt. He controls information through state media and suppresses free speech. He has invaded a neighboring country that voted for independence over 30 years ago (with over 90% of the vote) and has a democratically elected government.

This is bad. It’s bad for democracy. It’s bad for economies worldwide. It’s bad for freedom. It’s bad for civilization. There is no good way to spin this, no matter what the Putin fanboys will tell you.

If we are generalizing, then I would summarize the Pro-Biden position is

(1) Putin is an evil, cartoon character who simply wants world domination and that absolutely nothing U.S. politicians have done in the past has provoked him.

(2) Any country that overthrows its government does so without any outside help and with the purest of intentions. There are never ulterior motives for regime change

(3) Biden and Company just seem to have the worst luck with surrounding circumstances always looking like corruption even though nothing they ever do is intentional. It just so happens that all of their offspring fall into powerful positions with million-dollar salaries around the world despite being woefully unqualified.

(4) Democrats will fight tooth and nail defending democracy around the globe ( . . . until it no longer benefits them.)

Honestly haven’t seen any of these takes in this thread, except for maybe #1. Seems like a straw man to me.

The US blew a bunch of Russians off the face of the earth in Syria in 2018 and Russia did all they could to sweep it under the rug. Russia didn't want these hands from 2017-2020.
