Carnival season brings millions of visitors to the city and generates as much as $500 million in economic impact.

Landrieu said that The New Orleans Police Department will be operation at 100 percent capacity starting February 2nd.

Up to 700 City employees and temporary workers will be cleaning our streets along with 100 pieces of equipment during events, as well as before and after parades.

quote:

Louisiana State Police will also lend 165 troopers to the French Quarter and parade routes.

quote:

There will also be 120 public works employees working street maintenance towing and booting illegally parked cars.

quote:

]Major changes to the Mardi Gras safety plan includes no ladders, chairs, or ice chests between the curbs of the streets. Also, no tents will be allowed anywhere on the routes.

Ladders chained or set up more than 24 hours before the parade on the route will be removed.

According to NOPD Police Chief Michael Harrison, major changes were made to Uptown parade routes. All Uptown parades except for two will make right turns towards the river instead of left turns towards the lake.

There's already a shite ton of ladders on St. Charles. Honestly I don't see why the city should care. If people want to risk leaving there stuff out over the weekend just let them. They're going to over legislate the fun out of it. Why were these a legitimate issue?

ETA: How the frick are they gonna legislate no ice chests? Are troopers gonna walk the whole parade and start rounding the thousands of them up?

there are some area's on the sidewalk side where you literally cannot put a ladder except between the street and the sidewalk...

Also, I dont get the "no tents" Whats wrong with having tents?

Just like the pumps last year. The NOPD may only be 60-70% staffed, but those 60-70% still hanging around will be working!

between the curbs of the streets is where the bands and floats are..those bands take up the entire street...from curb to curb...I can see why they dont want and ladders or ice chest in the street
