Breaking statement from Mitch:

It's an unfortunate situation we find ourselves in. Especially considering the time of year and, uh, we're working to get the NOPD up to speed. I'm proud of our city and of all of our black and female officers.

Officials said ladders and setups on public green spaces -- like the neutral ground or the sidewalks -- will be disposed of during the sweeps. Items cannot be placed on the parade route more than 24 hours ahead of a parade.

Relax, just put them out Thursday afternoon and you’ll be alright. Most of the ladders that are out are for St. Charles residents and business owners anyway. As for tents, these were being taken down on the neutral ground since 07 or so.

because she's 10...I dont feel like arguing with her over where she keeps her step ladder. If she can move it and doesnt mind moving it after every float then I'm not going to interfere....she eventually will get tired

Nah, we're trying to buy a house so I couldn't justify shelling out the money that could go into savings

I probably will ride again next year, but we'll be down next weekend.

The Bacchus rider costumes are really nice, this year.

I wonder if by "between the curbs" they ALSO mean in the middle of intersections. We normally watch Uptown at the intersection of Magazine and Napoleon, and invariably at some point during the day an "amberlamps" or fire truck need to get through that intersection or the one up a half block at Camp St.

Everyone has to scurry to move ladders, stepstools, ice chests and chairs. They're usually very slow and angry about it, too.

I have. That is often where the ladders are

I'm about 85% sure you don't live in New Orleans and you almost never come here and if you do it isn't for Mardi Gras

Well. Maybe I'm just too drunk when I'm on the float. I'm also on the upper deck. I'm not a bottom

Third, will he apply this to cross streets blocked by the parade? Specifically along the uptown route there has always been people tailgating there. By clearing those spots out (that are not blocking traffic), he is making the parade route far more crowded.

I know a few years back uptown on Nap they were enforcing it, i.e. between the curbs of side streets because we got fricked by the cops who sat there and watched us set up and get settled in for about 30 minutes then told us we couldn't set up there. By that time all other places that weren't already filled up had been. Complete shite show.

Some of the Brennans, my FIL and a lot of his business partners. Zach strief is actually on the float too, but I've only met him in passing.
