Nicotine, the cure for "long Covid"?

THEO VON: “Was there anybody who was immune to COVID-19?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “There’s one adult group. You’re going to laugh.”
[Theo Von listens closely for the reveal]
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “Smokers… They got very mild cases. And they don’t get long COVID.”
THEO VON: “Why?”
MCCULLOUGH: “Because smokers maintain a level of nicotine in the bloodstream… Smoking blocks the spike protein. It’s amazing. I thought smokers were going to go down.”
THEO VON: “Do you think that’s a good idea [to use nicotine patches] on a regular basis?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “I think [it’s a good idea] if they have long COVID... Nicotine, don’t forget, is a nootropic. A nootropic is a drug that makes the brain function more effectively... It’s addictive, but it’s not harmful to the human body... Nicotine patches are perfectly safe.”

Nicotine patches are not the same as cigarettes

I knew two.
One was a older person, but in good health.
Another was a mid-40s woman, in good health.
Neither smoked.
I knew others casually, but I knew those two fairly well.

Seems to reduce the risk of Parkinson’s as well.

Nicotine is pretty awesome- glad there are better delivery systems than cigarettes.

Long Covid is rare anyway
People believe anything they read or hear from any halfwit on the Internet.

DR. MCCULLOUGH
Was good.
I’d prolly have it Stihl if it weren’t for a certain unnamed hurricane.

The only person I actually knew that died had never smoked.
I will say the few times I had covid it wasn't bad except for once. That one time though was up there with my worst flus which I would get about once every 5 years.

I am a longtime TD guy. Went to LSU same time as Chicken and we a know each other. I have always been active and an athlete.
I’m 55 years old, 5’11 and 170 pounds. Never been sickly in my life.
I have never been medicated in my life (until long covid) and have no co morbidities.
I did not get the jab.
I have been suffering greatly with long covid for almost three years. I own my own business and have a great staff and partner or I might quite literally have made a disability claim as I have quite a bit of disability coverage.
Long covid is ruining lives.
I have been under the care of several long covid specialist across the country.
I have tried just about everything including nicotine patches. They didn’t work for me.

Oh really. Define rare.
I would think by any metric it is far from rare.

They aren’t saying nicotine cures everything, have you tried drinking beer?

I love a good Gaucho response.
I tend to drink less when I’m don’t feel right. So I have been drinking less the last several years.
Interestingly, I actually may have some anecdotal evidence that drinking seems to help with the symptoms. Or maybe just masks them. Who knows.

What is it though? Residual fatigue? Everlasting cough?
I don’t know anyone with it and figured it was a catchall for anything and everything.

A can of Zyn a day keeps the Rona away.
