I hate to imagine seeing the lights of the boat getting farther and farther away. We need to pray for him

Is daring someone illegal?

The ferry crossing the river has to have a certain number of pfds, The Coast Guard comes on board, takes them all down and tries to rip them apart. If they rip, the boat has to have a specific number in good shape before they can cross.

No shite, but it has zero relevance here.

Supposedly had 400 kids on boat.

Agreed. But it was relevant to specific posts. Get over yourself, dude.

My daughter’s school required at least one parent accompany each child on Senior trips. This rule was enacted after one particular trip where a boy got drunk, tore up an ice machine and subsequently found himself in a Dominican Republic prison.
My heart breaks for this boy’s family and friends. Just unimaginably tragic.

How can the school enact a rule on graduates after they graduate?

20+ years ago, I coordinated my senior trip to Cancun through one of these companies. I went to a private school. They said that if I advertised through school or on campus, they would be involved in planning. I just didn't discuss at school

I now change my previous statement. Saw a video. The boat is a lot larger than I thought and everyone was having a good time on it. I originally imagined a smaller boat
Wait, do you mean tto tell me that someone on the internet made a rash judgement without knowing all the facts, and having zero idea what the frick they were talking about ??
Imagine that .

Those trips are ones sanctioned by the school and planned by them. I'm sure there is huge liability with that, hence the requirement. Many of these trips are organized by a company and have no affiliation with the schools whatsoever.

That is some locked up abroad shite. Ever watch that show? Other countries don't play like the US. And they make our jails look like the Ritz in comparison.

That's because their houses look like our prisons (or worse) so it makes sense.

What happened to the good old days of throwing tv’s off the balcony of the Butt Hut in Ft. Walton?
Posted on 5/25/23 at 9:59 pm to SixthAndBarone
They can have 300-400 ppl on board these boats.

Well not “just”. Like four hours earlier.

I'm so sorry Nostradamus. I remember rushing this boy's father into our fraternity at LSU and I know you came along after that. These guys don't know the family and you know there are always people who prefer to be edgy and glib than thoughtful or compassionate. They may not realize that the father likely posts here or that hundreds of people here know this family. Regardless I know you are likely hurting and I'm sending you and all around the U High and LSU community my warmest regards and respect at a very difficult time.
Hug your children. We never know. And lets thank our creator that he did not call us home for all the reckless and impulsive things we did in our youth just out of sheer youthful exuberance.
RIP to this young man and may God heal and give acceptance to his family and friends.

The insensitivity on this board can be so cruel sometimes, especially for stories like this where family and friends are likely to read this thread.

I'm being told by a parent there that kids were begging the captain to stop and he didn't for 10-15 minutes. Two kids stepped in, removed the captain and stopped the boat. Not sure how accurate this is, but it's from two of his friends from U High.

I was told the exact same story this morning by a parent who is there.
How drunk were these parents at the time?
