So now you crybaby Boomers feel entitled to outdated technology in new cars just because you're too lazy to learn how to use the newer (and much easier) format?

Put your discman on aux.

Just make sure you have anti-skip turned on

Btw I'm 41 and I haven't used a CD player in at least 10 years, maybe 15. You'll be fine

Are we talking mainstream popular music or cd’s of the type that that won’t be available on the standard streaming services?

If you just have easily available music, then the answer has been given already.

If you own rarer recordings not frequently carried on the popular streaming services then you’ll be stuck trying to find a way to rip this cd’s. At that point you can set up your own plex, Emby, jellyfin, etc server and stream to yourself if you want access to everything all the time.

If you don’t want to do that and don’t want to pay for streaming, look into whether you can access freegal music through your library. You can stream for free with a library card in most places and their catalog is massive.

FWIW I am way the hell older than you and haven’t used a cd in years

take all your CDs and put them on a small flash drive or something. Or get a used Ipod, I'm sure they're pretty damn cheap now.

I put all my CDs that I couldn't get elsewhere on my computer long ago, everything else I use spotify to listen to.

The problem with streaming is I'm frugal using Google Fi. I can keep my bill under $40 a month. If I start streaming music it will hit $80 for sure. frick that

Our Lana Del Rey concert tickets come with 2 physical CDs. These will be the first physical CDs I have owned since Coldplay's Viva La Vida in like 2008

Absolutely sucks that you don't get a CD player in a new car. I'm 40 years old

You aren't that old. You just now became a man, Gundy.

You are mad b/c outdated technology isn't included in your car so you are really complaining about convenience. Surprise, you have to pay for convenience just like you always have. Pony up or shut up.

Bitrate is a little lower, but I imagine it would be difficult to tell the difference in a car.

I had a 2004 car then got a 2016 without CD player. Had 200+ CDs and preferred it to my iPod. Didn’t realize new car didn’t have CD player. Plugged iPod into car and it was not bad.

Even better - got a 256GB iPhone and apple music so everything goes to my phone which is the new “cd library” but works with Apple CarPlay. Game changer. Better than having a million cds.

No. Most auto speakers aren't good enough to notice a difference though

Maybe, but I can tell the difference on my home stereo. So, I'll know.

As I said, I'm 40. I'm not big into technology

Having music on your phone or paying for a streaming service isn't a chore or considered being "big into technology".

Just get the music on your phone. Why wouldn't you?
