Are streaming services as clear as a CD?
. F no and SiriusXM has sounded bad since inception. My truck has a cassette and CD player.

Between tidal and deezer it is pretty rare something isn’t available in FLAC.

I was reading that even in that format the recordings are limited by the original tapes and to really take advantage songs have to be rerecorded. True?

Nah, MP3 players didnt start to become popular till the early 2000s.
Still damn near two decades ago...

And I know mp3 players weren't popular then, but I was in high school in the mid 90s and I was definitely downloading mp3s from AOL chat rooms back then.

It was fricking incredible at the time, it only took like 15 minutes to download a song.

It was a pretty sweet thing they had going actually. It was Napster before Napster. You just go to the 'mp3' chat room, send a message to one of the bots, and it would give you a list of the songs it had available. Type the command for the song you want and it would instantly pop into your inbox to be downloaded.

I'm 40 but I was late to the game. The first site I used was Limewire. I remember clicking on 7 or 8 songs, going to bed, and waking up to at least one of them still downloading. Still thought it was amazing.

Why are you acting like 40 is 80? I'm 37 and I stream everything: tv, music, movies...come into the 21st century, pee paw.

I'm 39 but I was on top of all that shite.

At around the same time as the aol chat room sharing, I started up with IRC file sharing. Then there was this program called Hotline that was great for music and video sharing. Then napster came out, followed by gnutella/limewire/imesh/bearshare/etc.

Now with youtube you can just rip mp3s straight from there.

Absolutely sucks that you don't get a CD player in a new car. I'm 40 years old and I don't have songs downloaded on my phone. All my music is on CDs. And it cost $350 to buy a USB plug-in CD player. Is there an alternative to the $350 cd player besides downloading music?

You'd probably be surprised to know Best Buy doesn't sell music CDs anymore. I'm 31 and was taken back by that.

Jesus fricking Christ.

I am 45 and I have not bought a CD since I discovered Rhapsody in 2004.

My 65 yr old mom only listens to music on her iPad and iPhone now.

My truck is 4 years old and has a cd player, not one single cd has been inserted into that thing you just have to get with the times. Bluetooth or aux cord your phone.

Yeah this seems sad or a troll job. I'm 10 years older, had an 8 track player in my first car and now have countless songs on my phone with streaming services of course too. Wake up and smell the digital!

I'm 43 and haven't used a CD to listen to music since before 2005 at least. I do miss the CD player though because I found a great cellphone mount that fits into the CD slot. Now I have to find something else and I don't really like the other options.

Seriously, though. They still sell CDs? You need to rip everything to digital and upload the entire thing to Google Play for free. Then stream it all off their app for free.
