This is such a shitty trend.

I heard of a firm in London doing this last year and now I find out it's going to happen to my team.

Basically, no one will be guaranteed a desk anymore. It will be a first come-frost serve basis every day. If you're late, you have to commute back home to work from home

Let's say you have a team of 10. The company will only provide 8 desks.

The assumption is that someone will always be gone for some reason or another. But that's a strong assumption

And you will obviously now have to bring all of your belongings home every night.

And God help you if you get stuck with a desk that was inhabited by a sick slob the previous day.

I strongly dislike working from home for most occasions so I detest this.

Why don't you just take your shite home and work from home throughout the week?

My uncle worked at Lilly in Indianapolis and they got rid of permanent desks for the majority of employees and gave them a laptop and he said it ended up being a great move. Apparently if your job is at a large campus and you need to move around all over during the day for meetings and things having a permanent work station can be a hindrance.

Sorry that you are working at a call center.

What’s your line? IRS arrest warrants, car warranties, or student loan relief?

If they allow you to work from home, I'd just work from home.

This isn't a London thing - it happens quite often here. Hoteling makes sense for a lot of companies were people are on the road or at client sites routinely.

Sounds like they are giving you choices ofnwhere to work from. Not everyone needs to be in the office from 8-5

I'm glad I have my own office with a desk and a window with a lovely view of North Baton Rouge.

You know. You could just talk to your coworkers and have everyone just pick a day to work from home.... right?
