To be fair this is a little bigger than getting promoted from night shift manager to day shift manager at Arby’s.

Why does it matter? The Bible, sacraments, or ten commandments changing anytime soon?

Sort of reminds me of Dwight from the Office who declared himself to be Assistant [to the] Regional Manager.

It’s more like Michael Scott IMO. He gets the title and the responsibility but without the pay or the decision making power

Parsonage is at Notre Dame if memory serves. Maybe you joke about a retreat on the Northshore,, but St Benedict's and St.Joseph's Abbey is up in Covington and used to have some nice retreat houses

Serious question (not Catholic, so don't know): what's the significance of being "Most Reverend"? Is there such a thing as "Some Reverend"? What does it mean?

New Jersey has its redeeming pockets but is pretty widely regarded as a dump. I think he’ll be okay.

Well, there is no "some Reverend".

The "Reverend" titles are the formal titles for use in things like correspondence or press releases. "Reverend" is used for priests, "Very Reverend" is used for Monsignors, which are senior priests of some note, and "Most Reverend" is used for bishops. It's kind of like writing out someone's full military rank in an article about them.

If you are talking to them, you would say "Father Jones" for priests and monsignors (though most priests use their first name, "Father John") and "Your Excellency" for bishops.

Hope that helps.

For one, he is being promoted from a bishop to an archbishop. Your question might be more properly framed as why does New Orleans get an archbishop as opposed to Metuchen, NJ or Baton Rouge (which have bishops). The answer is the New Orleans archdiocese is considered a prestigious posting given both the number and devotion of local Catholics, and also the long history of the Catholic Church in this area and the number of Catholic institutions that affect many aspects of the daily lives of New Orleanians.
