If you said browsed the city today via Google Maps and checked out Audobon, Uptown, Garden District, Warehouse District, Lakeview, them you might have reached a different conclusion about the city.

Did you think Claiborne, Elysian Fields, or Franklin looked like anything but crap last time you were here?

I remember through the 80s, 90s, and early 00s that those businesses and schools were open and not abandoned, covered in graffiti, with every window busted out.

South Claiborne looks better than it did a decade ago. The other streets are in a free-fall though. Canal St from Rampart to Broad is especially depressing (so many graffitied or abandoned buildings).

I think New Orleans is a shithole and would never live there these days. But I would feel like a retard saying I can judge any city based on looking at Google maps.

I was there today. The more time that passes between visits, the more blight I can recognize.

Charity hospital looks like absolute crap from the expressway. Yes qe all know it's abandoned, but conventioners don't and will notice. That is example 1 of 10,000 issues.

I need to figure out a way to design a high powered and efficient industrial pressure washer to wash the filth off of the highway overpass and elevated expressway. It's like the whole city was coated with party gravy.

You can't look at Google Maps or YouTube videos of people driving through Detroit and tell it's a shite hole?

I think you could do that for every city.

Charity hospital

See, I remember when that was operational. That's my benchmark. The whole city seems like one giant blight. Sure, they built that new giant medial complex by Tulane/Claiborne but that doesn't mean the city overall doesn't look like a hellhole.

Speaking of this: whatever happened to the "Gray Ghost"? I'm guessing dead or retired, because he never would have allowed the city to look like this.

Debatable. I didn’t see Downman Rd or the hood off General DeGualle on his Google Street Tour.

New Orleans hasn't looked good for 50+ years. It's a disgrace what has happened to this once great city. No leadership, high crime and getting worse.

NOLA is depressing. I was visiting a friend 2 years ago and the second I entered NOLA East I knew I should have just asked him to come hang out in FL

What a beautiful afro pic.
I feel like I'm rolling over in my grave before I've even been buried. It's depressing to imagine what this city will look like in 50 more years. At least it's not my problem.
