Lifelong resident of Orleans Parish here.

I hate this fricking place now and I’m ready to get out.

I have defended it for too long but I can’t anymore. I advise out of town friends not to visit right now. I just came back from a week in Sarasota and Orlando and was like “wow so not every place is a shithole”. I understand every place has bad areas, but New Orleans has NO good areas. You know it’s bad when Lakeview is a nightly target for car hits. You know it’s REALLY bad when Lake Vista is getting hit every night.

Sadly I don’t think it gets better until it gets worse, meaning the business community decides it’s time to go, old money St Charles Ave people and also the Rex crowd decide enough is enough, and your 20-40 year old liberals start becoming victims. I don’t want anyone to be a victim, but that’s just what I think it will take for real change to happen.

At this point, I think New Orleans (and all the other Dem-run shitholes) will have to not only hit absolute rock bottom, but be buried under the rock before anything changes.

Welcome to sanity, my friend. I was once you. I was just a few years ahead of you.

frick the shithole. As you leave Orleans parish for the last time as a resident, the weight that lifts off your shoulders is amazing. You don't even know you are carrying it now, but when it leaves your shoulders, you'll feel that relief and it is great!
God luck in your future load free future.

St Charles Avenue looks like total dog shite from I-10 to Jackson Ave. 65-70% of the business that were once flourishing on this corridor are now closed up permanently. Highly depressing

Yes, but you're talking about ten blocks. The next SEVENTY blocks to Carrollton are, for the most part, pristine. I defy you find a prettier five-mile stretch in Louisiana.

New Orleans is currently an accurate reflection of the darkness which has infected all levels of the city, starting with leadership and ending with the common citizen. There is no more reverence for even a simple ideal of God within the families of this city anymore.
