Back in the day you could tell someone in London, Tokyo or Sydney that you were from Atlanta and they'd ask you about Georgia Championship Wrestling....I have always thought part of the reason Atlanta landed the Olympics is because people all over the world loved Georgia Championship Wrestling.....it was, as they say, kind of a big deal....

When I was a small boy watching Georgia Championship Wrestling on Saturday evenings at my Maw-Maw's house, Gordon Solie made me believe The Omni was bigger than frickin' Disney World.

I don’t recall WWE ever taking back a Wrestlemania from a host site, before.

Didn't they just do this to Minneapolis last year, jerking it from Minny for Vegas?

Perhaps, but they surely didn't go so far as to have a star as big as The Rock announce it before a live audience on national television before yanking it away.

They probably found out what rt3 does to puppies and didn't want to be in the same state as him.

What did NOLA frick up this time to cost them dearly with needed revenue? It’s just not a big league market any longer, no matter what the face painting Saints and Pels fans think.

He was good! Larry Munson could make Lexington Kentucky sound like it was more foreign and exotic than Shanghai....they don't make 'em like that no more....

Took the kids to WrestleMania XXX when it was in NOLA. The street were abuzz with rassling nerds dressed up like all their favorite rasslers.

It was a good time

Rumor is they want to give it to Indy to fulfill the promise they made to give them one.
How does that make any sense at all when they're doing the same thing right back to New Orleans? Why not just give Indy 2027?

New Orleans was already announced by WWE and the city. This 100% smells like Saudi doubled their offer to get it moved.

My question surrounding all these rumors of what cities were promised what...

Where's the contract?

Surely these cities would've locked WWE into these promises with binding contracts before all this got out right?

Seems like Big Business 101

Not even looking at this from a political stance, but Wrestle Mania moving to the Middle East on account of TKO chasing that dollar would kinda suck. Mania is an American institution, barring the couple of Canadian shows.

Its like saying the NFL is taking the Super Bowl to Riyadh. Do you know how many people would riot?

If they yanked it from NOLA to go to Saudi, I'm wiping my hands clean with WWE. The Dome is ready, renovations are done. There's no "upgrades" going on for the venue. This makes no sense.

Absolutely same. The 10-year Saudi deal is unsavory enough but I couldn't imagine a bigger middle finger to the fans than yanking away Wrestlemania for Saudi money.

Even for London, this sucks. frick WWE.

Looks like staying in Vegas more money there. Maybe we will get some more UFC fights as a consolation prize

Royal Rumble is in Saudi Arabia next year. They're not doing RR and WM from the same place. WM today is much different than it was even the last time it came to New Orleans. Its a two day event and tickets are gonna be 2-3 times as expensive. The fans are all there to sing, not to watch wrestling.

The shitty Vegas fans weren't even good at that. Worst mania fans in years. And they want to bring it back to Vegas

'Mania will eventually be back in NOLA

WWL-TV

quote:

According to the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and WWE, a new multi-year agreement will bring several major events to New Orleans, starting with UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, followed by WWE’s Money in the Bank in 2026. As part of the deal, WrestleMania will be moved from the originally scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.
