quote:

Simon Morris snapped when a man swiped his wallet outside an Uptown gasoline station Friday morning. He chased the thief across the street and beat him to death with his fists and feet, New Orleans police said.

I hate thieves and robbers. I think I would have a hard time convicting this man.

People better not come into this thread with the "disproportionate punishment" talking point

Race of thief is needed before OT can base an opinion

Beat the guy, sure... but killing him. Yea, you're gonna do time.

I'm sure if the thief were arrested he would already be back on the street. Not that it's a good thing, but in no way can you argue that a stolen wallet deserves the death penalty.

Well we know that you’re a little bitch no matter what color you are.

If I can say one thing it’s that the OT is fairly consistent on their punishments of pieces of shite, no matter the color.

White dude beats a black dude trying to steal his wallet, gets arrested and will do time

Black on black crime, business as usual. Lock em up for 30 days then let em out

Woah. I get it if he pulled a gun or knife on someone. That takes a certain mentality to be ready to harm. Just pick pocketing though warrants getting killed? That’s some Middle Ages mindset right there with you people.

I don't blame the guy for whipping the thief's arse...but a five minute beating AND stomping resulting in death is fricking manslaughter. Plain and simple. He deserves the time, especially if the lowlife didn't threaten him physically. Now if the thief assaulted him, different story.

I hate a thief as much as anyone here, but kicking and beating a man for over five minutes while he’s begging for you to stop is a bit disturbing.

He must have really liked that wallet.

Upvote. This happened on S. Claiborne 2 blocks away from the shooting (3 fatalities) at Chicken & Watermelon.

“Beat him for five minutes or longer....”

Knocking the guy out and accidentally killing him... I can look the other way..

But beating the dude to a bloody pulp, likely while he was unconscious, is manslaughter.
