It's already lost, and has been for decades. New Orleans has had a Democrat mayor for 150+ years, and the results NEVER change. It got a reprieve when Katrina came through and flushed some of the crime to other states/cities. But it didn't take lone for NOLA to revert back to it's true self.
New Orleans will NEVER change. All you can do is hope it becomes a little less violent. It's a unique city and can be fun when it's safe, but random acts of violence is the norm, not the anomaly, and sooner or later, your luck will run out.
New Orleans has culture problem, and now, has a sever lack of law enforcement to combat such a problem due to progressivism. And "culture" shows no signs of wanting to change. And when the mayor is part of the problem, crime is left unchecked.

New Orleans has had happen to it exactly what it deserves. When you embrace a bunch of transplants who make a caricature of the culture, while believing in things like “restorative justice” and having elected leaders more concerned about lining their pocket and not the economic well being of the city you get this mess. The city has passed a point of no return.

Any innocent kid we can help break out of the cycle of violence and poverty caused by a culture that glorifies single motherhood and devalues education makes all the fighting worth it. Its not easy but it’s rewarding when you can make a difference in someone’s life. Maybe if we can reach enough kids a leader out of that culture can emerge to help fight it. Maybe a community pocket can begin to push back against the blight and violence plaguing their lives.
It’s easy to paint with broad generalizations and ignore the problem. I understand that. It’s what our brains are wired to do when confronted with uncomfortable things.
And yes it seems hopeless and stupid to keep fighting. I understand that too. But those ghettos are full of innocent kids who didn’t choose to be born into the world they inherit. They’re just kids. And they don’t know any better. And neither do their parents. And often they don’t start life with the means or the ability to improve their situation. But you can help equip them with that means and ability. That’s a powerful thing.
And some of you will happily tell those kids “you already have no chance in life so give up because no one cares about you and no one will help.” What a terrible idea to put into someone’s head. And yet it’s parroted every day everywhere from media to politics to this message board.
Step back thing about what you’re saying and what your actions mean instead of trying to score stupid argument points or ignoring the true reality of the situation
And every single one of those kids is worth fighting for. Every one of them. Someone has to try and help the innocent fight the predators. I’ll happily lay down my life fighting for them.

People who don’t want to fight for places like New Orleans are shortsighted. They don’t realize that ultimately what happens is New Orleans crumbles and the disease spreads.
And none of us live anywhere that isn’t at risk. It’s time to wake up. We have to start making changes and stop trying to just run from places we don’t like.

It’s not just the ghettos that hold New Orleans down. There’s a certain mentality that took root in New Orleans decades ago that holds it back. It’s a mentality of entitlement and uniqueness. New Orleans is the 500-pound middle aged woman looking at her prom photo and thinking to herself “I’m so beautiful everyone must love me!!!”

Katrina shifted BR demographics so badly that the fight was over before it began. Broome would win in a landslide if she ran today.

Nothing left to fight for, inmates control the asylum. Normals are left to plead for such basic things like personal safety, and safe schools. . .only to be dismissed as racist for the asking.

I think I read a few years ago that the entire BR metro only kept about 10k permanent residents from Katrina. That's not really enough to shift demographics and that wasn't all in the actual city. John Parker did more to shift the demographics of BR in the 80s and 90s than Katrina.
