YOU clean them out

The challenge is pretty simple. If you run across a clogged catch basin, take before pictures of it. Clean the front of it and take after pictures of it.

That's not new. That's been the strategy since Bartholomew.

So they're finally officially throwing their hands up and saying "frick it, you do it".

At the very least, free poop knives should be distributed.

And the subsurface drainage just below the storm water grate is completely clogged with fines & organics.

A person dundu nuffin by cleaning around their grate.

This isn't new. There was an effort recently for something like an adopt a catch basin campaign.

frick the SWB, you get plenty of money. You do it. The whole damn thing needs to be privatized.

The parish cleaned mine out in Metairie a few days after I called. They even went so far as to do the entire block, and flushed it all out. I wonder if the chocolate city is gonna have people fight crime next

Pretty sure that’s also the road paving strategy. Road not paved, or paved badly? You do it!

It's all fun and games until someone gets stuck in a basin or a drain cover collapses on top of you.

99 percent of them are clogged because the people who live there, blow their grass clippings into them, allow loose trash on the street to get into them, etc.

If people took any pride in their street, this would be a lot less of a problem.

Whenever there's a storm in the gulf, or prediction of heavy rain, I walk outside and make sure any trash is picked up, any grass clippings are removed, and I take my shovel and reach as far as I can into the drain to clear it out. It takes 15 min.

But I don't post it on social media so I guess it doesn't happen lol
